CBS launches 'Slap Bet Countdown' {TV Squad}
Jul 24th 2007 7:19PM Oh my... well, while I *might* have preferred to be kept in suspense as to the WHEN, I am so looking forward to the HOW and WHY, that I am willing to accept this for what it is - a brilliant publicity stunt, which I hope will be the first of many to promote this, my favorite series on tv.
... dary. Oh yes, you know it is coming. The 3rd season cannot start in any other way. ;-)
Ricavision's Vista SideShow MK140 Fridge magnet, E-Reader, and eChatter {Engadget}
May 18th 2007 6:17PM "Ricavision, the company that brought us the SideShow MCE remote" ... really? When? I saw the original post during CES, and after that... nothing. Was the Sideshow Vista remote ever released? If so, where can I buy it? So far, the entire Sideshow experience has been a lot of promises and no deliveries... I know, I am impatient, but dang it I want to try out these new gadgets before I get too old to appreciate them. ;)
Widget Watch: Twitterlex update brings Growl notifications, more {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Feb 11th 2007 4:44PM We use Twitter a bit differently.
We have created an online puzzle/maze game where users can create their own levels and publish them online. Once published, users can download the game itself - and any of the published levels to their mobile phones and play whenever they want.
Twitter is being used as a notification tool: each time a user (who has a Twitter account and has enabled the notification option in our Level Editor) creates and publishes a level, their Twitter friends get notified of it, and get a direct link to download the level to their mobile phone.
We are still conjuring up new ideas on how to integrate Twitter into more functions in our game, but this is a cool first step. Anyone who wants to test the game, feel free to visit at www.nbw.nu/ninja ... and yes, the game is free, even the mobile version. The Level Editor is built using Flex, so it is very much Mac friendly - and a stand alone downloadable version of the game will be made available for the Mac this spring. Enjoy!
Test driving Vista {PVR Wire}
Jan 18th 2007 4:11AM I have had a chance to try out Vista for the past couple of days, focusing on investigating whether it is worth the upgrade from MCE 2005. The jury is still out on that one, but I am impressed by the quick and easy setup, which is a slight improvement over MCE. Also, worth noting is that integration with the Xbox 360 as a media extender works really well, with the Vista Media Center interface looking gorgeous on my 360. So far, Vista looks to be exactly what I expected it to be; a slightly matured version of XP.
Worth the money to upgrade? Tough choice. But seeing as my wife updates her Mac OS every second year to keep up with Apple's latest stuff, it wouldn't be too hard to justify the expense of upgrading to Vista in my home.
Bottom line: I like it. It looks good, is surprisingly fast on my PC from yesteryear, and looks gorgeous on my HTPC. Integration with Xbox 360 works great, and is a plus if you own one.
Nokia E62 on Cingular soon {Engadget Mobile}
May 31st 2006 11:11AM
The E62's european brother (clearly separated by birth), the E61 does not sync well at all with the Mac.
Nokia does not recommend using it with a Mac at all, and I can confirm that while it plays nice with my PC, my Powerbook and my E61 won't get along at all.
And the E61 does indeed have wi-fi, so why not the E62. Madness, I tell you, sheer madness.
