Editorial: All I wanted this year was the best smartphone ever {Engadget}

Dec 25th 2008 11:30AM THE PERFECT SMARTPHONE:

I'm sorry guys but the iPhone is the closest to perfection smartphones get so I will base the perfect smartphone off of it.

Hardware:
I think the hardware is just right for a MOBILE phone (It's not a computer). Mobile is the key word so you have to expect a little lag. As far as graphics goes the iPhone has changed the game. Mobile gaming will never be the same again. I don't think anyone expected the iPhone to be a gaming threat so that along tells you how powerful the hardware is. The only thing is that it could use a bump in more RAM. Oh and I don't have a problem with using the virtual keyboard so I don't think there's a need for a physical keyboard.

Software:
Once again I think OS X Mobile is the most powerful OS on the mobile market. Plus it has the biggest ecosystem so I'm using it. First and foremost OS X mobile has it's limitations. I think they are there for mostly good reasons like power consumption and the overall stabilization of the OS but there alot of negatives too. First it needs a Google overhaul! It need the same Gmail integration as the G1 but with real push. Its needs better Exchange integration for the cooperate world. Hell this is a long shot but I wouldn't mind if they had Blackberry connect for the iPhone because Mobile Me sucks! For everyone who think the iPhone lags, it's a MOBILE phone not a computer! The time it takes to switch between apps can be annoying but thats not a hardware problem, its the OS. The iPhone needs better integration of first party apps in OS X Mobile. If we can't have background processes in 3rd party apps then Apple needs to cater to that. Example, if I'm running a 3rd party app and I receive a text when I hit reply it shouldn't take me into the SMS app. The keyboard should just popup letting me reply right there so I don't have to quit the current app I'm using. Now that I think about it, that could be a problem because the iPhone doesn't have enough RAM. Hopefully Grandcentral will be integrated into the OS X Mobile so we should see a bump in the processing.

So that will be the perfect Smartphone for me Bitches!!! Merry Christmas!
