iRobot (still) working on lawn-mowing Roomba? {Engadget}

Jul 6th 2008 10:24PM If it is priced like a roomba, it may have a chance. At $2000+ the others have little to no effect on the market.

Verizon rolls out 23 new FiOS TV HD channels in Fort Wayne {Engadget HD}

Jun 30th 2008 4:36PM Slightly OT - anyone know approximately how long it takes for FiOS to be available after they put in the green manhole sized distribution boxes? The best I could get from the contractors running the condult was, "Si, FiOS, Si."

Nokia 6205 flip official for Verizon {Engadget}

Jun 13th 2008 2:03PM Wow, I can't wait to get this or one of the other crap dumb phones they announced this week! Really, I'm not interested in the Touch Pro or symbian based smart phone.

I'm happy to see they really step it up for the 13 year olds on the network...

Philadelphia citywide WiFi officially shut down {Engadget}

May 13th 2008 10:47PM I thought the NHL went under a few years ago.. or it may be that no one cares that they still play :)

I have never been able to connect to any manner of public WiFi, free or paid, in Philly and I've been there a few days per month over the last 10 years.

Verizon sues Time Warner Cable over some dumb ads {Engadget}

Apr 10th 2008 2:28PM You must live in magic unsupervised contractor FiOSland. They run fiber to the house and terminate to a NUI which then splits the connection to coax, cat5/6, rj11, etc. They do that in 100% of homes and 80%+ appartment/condos (the fiber will terminate in a common location and use building wire to the customer).

Verizon phasing out last analog channels, offering free digital adapter {Engadget HD}

Apr 8th 2008 11:40AM Is a fiber strand analog or digital? The answer is no, it is just a transport medium. No equipment manufacturer in their right mind would create a device that uses analog directly over fiber so it is all packaged in a digital transport and split by the equipment (NIU) installed at your house.

I think they're just removing a service that few people knew about, or used, anyway.

TiVo still working on a DVR with two-way features like VOD {Engadget}

Mar 6th 2008 1:22PM Same experience as Ben... I have 2 TiVo HD boxes and 4 Series 2 boxes. The only problems I've had since 2001 is when updates run on some boxes and not others for the media sharing, or whatever they call it these days. Obviously wasn't a problem until the Series 2 boxes came out.

FWIW, I've had the TiVo HDs since 8.1 and they run without a hitch up to the current version (9.2.something).

1.1.4 update hints at iPhone launch in Austria, too? {Engadget Mobile}

Feb 28th 2008 4:53PM It was from Dumb & Dumber... was hoping not to have to explain it.

Brookstone converts Sharper Image gift cards into practically worthless discount {Engadget}

Feb 27th 2008 4:28PM batches? We don't need no stinkin' batches!
