Sep 17th 2009 11:03AM Failed to load on the first iphone, had to re-download the update, then restore, took 2-3 hours to get it back working correctly, most of the time spent waiting for it to backup, extremely, extremely slow. Wife was pissed on that one, thankfully it's working now.
The other one loaded without problem, besides the very slow backup. Then, this morning, it was off, it's supposed to be my alarm in the morning, thanks grind 'n brew, a good backup...
Restarted it, to find out 75% of my battery was gone, doing nothing. We'll see if it continues.
Very, very poor release, with all the issues it has created, reminds up the old win2k/early Xp updates, breaks more then it fixes...

First off, I am an avid Sirius fan, listen to it quite a few hours a day, nfl, music, howard, comedy, etc.
So I think this product has a HUGE flaw.
What ever happened to al la carte? Best of XM/Sirius doesn't cut it for me. Why is this an XM based product, why would you make something like this, this late in the game (post merger), and not include the compatibility for it to be Sirius based product also. Again, I don't want to pay extra to listen to NFL, howard. Give me al la cart, music, sports, comedy, family, talk, etc.
I see this being good for ipod touches, not iphones, to much going on with the phone to use it.
Ohh, and I doubt we will see a true al la carte for at least another year, if ever

Aug 18th 2009 8:49PM If you live in the states, pass it up, maps are 5 maybe 10 years old, like the flow of the software, but the maps are just way to outdated to be worth $35. I made the mistake so you don't have to.

May 13th 2009 10:44AM Just a few things to ponder....my thoughts on how sling could eventually break the wifi only bridge...
1. Obvious slingbox has the ability to cripple at&t network.
2. At&t has plans to role out 7.2Mbps speeds sometime in the near future (though I still don't see them wanting sling to run on it).
3. New iphone, doubt it will role out with LTE support this time, got a feeling apple will wait for LTE to mature (wouldn't be surprised though if it did) should be released December time frame, I still believe at&t and apple for that matter will be going to a 18 month product life cycle, more in tune with every other American phone product life cycle.
4. With the role out of LTE starting next year would give apple another 18 months to plan for a LTE device, enough time for LTE to mature enough not to zap battery life, which apple clearly uses as part of their benchmark when creating these things. At this time, I could see the introduction of tiered data plans that would allow the official use of devices like sling, and give at&t enough time to catch up with a uverse equivalent...
Or I could be crazy!

Apr 10th 2009 12:13AM Competition is good, each needs the other to drive ambition to create better products. There is no reason for mac os to not run on a standard pc. With basic driver they could run on the basic cheapo pc, slow, but you pay for what you get, that is with a pc. There still is a 500+ dollar premium for a mac, no matter how you cut it. Macs, with some software can run pc software, great. Why in the world would I spend an extra 500 for the machine, turn around and spend an extra 60+ (purely a guess on that one, but staying legit) to run pc software, assuming that you already own a valid license of xp, or vista... Please someone tell me where this makes sense. They are 2 totally different platforms. OS from Microsoft obviously don't care who runs their OS, where as Mas OS has a huge issue who is allow to run their OS. Tell me where this makes sense, look at companys like pystar (may not be around for long due to legal issues) but the common PC hardware is capable of running mac os. Apple is doing nothing more then trying to charge a premium for OS, which I might add is based of linux.
Anyways, I love the competition, it's good to keep competitiveness up. Apple fanboys, just don't forget who bailed you out a few years ago, yea that's right, the evil empire called microsoft...
Love the iphone, upgraded from wm5 device. Mac OS cannot do without emulation (which is a huge overhead/ram/price hit) what I do. Simple truth, Macs lost a lot of ground being out of the game for so long. Where's the business advantage to spend an extra 500 per machine to appease corporate America. The photo & video market is a niche market, there's a whole 'nother world out there beyond that. One which mac has little, next to no presence in.

Well, sounds like slingbox over 3g is a gonna be a no go. Amazing how At&t would change their terms right after the app was submitted to apple...took them just over a week to make it technically a violation of their terms.
