Walt Mossberg reviews Autonet: spotty, but still distracting enough to be dangerous {Engadget}

Nov 13th 2008 11:28PM If you go to their webpage, the $29.99/mo. plan only includes 1GB of data transfer, and if you "upgrade" to the $59.99/mo. plan you get 5GB of data. YEEEEEEESSSSS!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!! Rip. Off. Tethering FTW.

BTW Engadget please update your posting to reflect this info.

iPhone 3G reception just fine say curious Swedes with engineering degrees {Engadget}

Aug 25th 2008 7:34AM Finally! This article proves it ---- wait a minute, never mind this is a really stupid thing to post, Engadget. If you are going to target an article towards users in the US, which this is the US version I am reading AFAIK, maybe show a test comparing the iPhone to phones that A US CARRIER SELLS. I can't remember the last time I walked into an ATT store and picked up a N73 or P1. Oh, and maybe have the test take place on the carrier that sells it in the country that sells it. No, you're right Engadget, all of these people complaining about reception issues are MAKING IT UP. Most people that read this site are aware of the fact that 3G overseas beats the shit out of US HSDPA coverage-wise. NEXT.

Mar 27th 2008 8:11PM Oh. My. God.

You people with the exception of Phil should just shut up when you know absolutely nothing about what you are whining about. This is a totally different service and totally separate network which requires different hardware in handsets. All you whiney iPhone bitches can't get it, sorry!

Motorola and Verizon announce Q: $199 {Engadget}

May 22nd 2006 5:40PM Ok, this post is a rant so if you think you will take offense, skip over it.

I am so f**king suck of stupid-ass people with their subpar minds posting wrong info and hating on everyone. All of you haters are just jealous that you can't have new devices and you are just obviously too poor to afford the bill. If you are anyone who actually needs mobile data you can eat a $40./mo. bill. Everyone always talks about "Oohh, well I get data on Sprint for $15./mo." Wow! Great, as long as you don't leave the city, you'll have coverage. What happens when you do leave? Oh, yeah, you have to roam on Verizon where you won't have data, but I will. Everyone complains about Verizon and Cingular's data prices. Well, look at their footprints compared to Sprint or T-Mobile's. End of story.

Let's clear up some MISINFORMATION.

Verizon doesn't throttle EVDO.
Data prices are as follows:
Combo plans - $40.
Data as an add on to AC: $45.
Data only on a device: $50.
Tethering add-on for compatible devices: $15.
$80./mo. if for laptop aircard with no voice plan.

You absolutely cannot use NE2 and the $100. data discount together. You may get a rep that will do it, but that is rare.

Sorry if I offended anyone, really I am as everyone is entitled to their opinion, but let's get over this data pricing issue already, it really gets old to see it every time a new phone comes out.

CDMA Motorola SLVR coming to Verizon this summer {Engadget Mobile}

May 19th 2006 6:06AM Verizon.... always a DAY LATE (getting models after they have been out on gsm/umts), and a DOLLAR SHORT (gimping phones is the rule and not the exception). No sim cards, still on esn based cdma, getting low ranks on network retain-ability when conducted independently, bla, bla, bla... If you?re an ?engadget tech geek? how are you still using Verizon?
>Oh yeah, I forgot all of the UMTS handsets you GSMers have, and the COVERAGE, Oh the Coverage! HaHa :rollseyes:
>The SIM card argument again? Please, it really gets old. I swap my ESN using my EVDO-enabled XV6700 if I want to switch phones. Doesn't get much easier than that. I'm willing to bet that 2% of customers care about SIM cards, so no real argument there.
>Multiple independent tests rate Verizon higher overall than Cingular.
>If you're an Engadget tech geek, how are you still using that slow EDGE? Shame shame.
