Jun 28th 2009 2:21PM yeah, that's important to a lot of people, especially companies who want productivity tools given to their users.

Jun 28th 2009 2:20PM a lot of useful apps are ones which aren't really updated any more. Ones which the developers won't be pushing into the app store. And little things like Batti, something that I REALLY couldn't live without. I'm not sure if something along those lines will be going into the app store.

but yeah, I'm hoping Microsoft can fill it up. It might well be the deciding factor between the Pre and the Touch Pro2 for me, when the Pre comes to the UK and my contract ends.

Jun 28th 2009 2:00PM Chris, Microsoft HAS got a lot of support from developers. They still offer sideloading, downloading from the phone browser, whatever. they could have made their app store more open, but they still allow you to install whatever you want from wherever you want, meaning it's not as important.

You're comparing the number of apps available through one specific method for a platform (Since winmo allows downloading from anywhere) with the sum total of "legal" apps for a platform. that's an irrelevant comparison.

Jun 28th 2009 1:57PM Application unlocking winmo?

that's not the fault of winmo, that's the fault of your dumbass phone networks. Buy direct from a manufacturer and you can install anything you want.
