South Korea's "ubiquitous" Songdo city begins to take shape {Engadget}

Jul 3rd 2008 7:39AM No, they tax the hell out of everything here except for booze and cigarettes.

And hookers...oh the glorious hookers.

Seriously though, seeing as how it's going to be setup in an EPZ, corporations will be free of tax, but citizens will have to foot the bill.

ASUS' 17-inch G70 gaming laptop on sale now in UK {Engadget}

Jun 22nd 2008 11:40AM I love ASUS, I have had a couple of their laptops and I think that they are extremely well built and either good value for money, or they are better equipped than the competition.

But twin 8700GT cards doesn't cut it, especially when companies like PC MicroWorks are putting dual 9800gtx cards in their units. More so, at almost $4000, this laptop certainly isn't good value for money.

Sorry ASUS, but when it comes to DTRs, you just aren't cutting it.

Alienware adds Skullcap design option on Area-51 m15x {Engadget}

Jun 17th 2008 4:42AM Everything about this laptop is a throwback to the way Alienware in the pre Dell days. I have a 7700m and it has the same cover design, and sadly, the same overheating problem. After 3 BIOS updates, only a fan control app from Clevo has fixed it.

PC Microworks intros Montevina-powered Edge uber-laptop {Engadget}

May 25th 2008 12:22AM Yes, it's $8000 IF you want the 8gb of RAM, the 64gb SSD drive, Blu-ray burner, and every other option under the sun.

You can easily configure it into a nice gaming rig for around $3000. Best of all, you can choose any Windows OS you want, or none at all.

Samsung boss responds to bribery probe: "I am responsible" {Engadget}

Apr 7th 2008 8:39PM His claim that he is responsible is a pathetic attempt to appear as if he has integrity. What he's really saying is that he's only responsible for getting caught.

The people here are generally pissed about his level of corruption, but Koreans for the most part accept corruption as a fact of life.

Samsung's Miniskirt Season 2: return of the taffeta tramps {Engadget}

Mar 17th 2008 9:48AM kevjohn:

Yeah, I messed that up nicely. It should have come out "ogle".

Samsung's Miniskirt Season 2: return of the taffeta tramps {Engadget}

Mar 17th 2008 7:34AM I think a few posters are missing the point:

No one cares who she is, we just want to oogle her!

That said, I'm quite disappointed in this promotion, I don't know about Miniskirt Season 1 on the other side of the pond, but in Korea the girls had way less clothing.

Hands-on with iriver's 3-inch touchscreen phone {Engadget Mobile}

Feb 13th 2008 12:32AM If this has actual phone guts in it, I guess that we will be calling it the W13. Sadly, I'm expecting this to be a year late, and have half of the features removed.

iriver's CES teaser site fleshes out Lplayer, Spinn {Engadget}

Jan 8th 2008 6:50AM If the W10 and D5 are any indicator, we can expect these to come out long after anything unique and interesting about them has been ripped by Apple, Cowon, Samsung...

iriver's clix+ with DMB now available {Engadget}

Dec 18th 2007 10:50PM Why did it take iriver this long to release a clix with DMB? Cowon has had a D2 with DMB for nearly a year. With DMB available on most cellphones, e-dictionaries, PMPs, and MP3 players, it just seems surprising that iriver would actually consider this an "upgrade" rather than an essential component that they forgot to include in the first rendition.
