Symbian's Horizon: one app store to rule them all? {Engadget Mobile}
Jul 16th 2009 2:19PM Hi Chris, Not to be too picky, but Nokia released their results today, with details of their S60 smartphones. Their market share was UP, to 41% of all smartphones sold worldwide. Then there's Samsung and their Symbian phones. And so on. So around 50% market share for Symbian OS worldwide. Some 'underdog'! At least you put in the word 'considered', implying that it's the journalists and analysts who are missing a trick here....

Nokia spits out updates for N82 and N78 {Engadget Mobile}
Jan 27th 2009 2:26AM No, no, no, I was the one who broke this news over on All About Symbian. The N82 has always had UDP. You're spreading a careless typo from Symbian Guru. Please, guys, follow news to its source, otherwise we end up in a game of 'chinese whispers'!!

Feb 1st 2008 2:48AM I've now had it confirmed that the 500 has the same wierd interface as the 500v - i.e. these PR shots are mockups - there's no standard Windows Mobile home screen!
The Palm Treo 500, now SIM free {Engadget Mobile}
Jan 26th 2008 11:15AM Hmm.... this shows a standard WM today screen rather than the Treo 500v's carousel. Is this a mockup, or is it a genuine change for the unlocked version?
Experts predict malware field day for iPhone in '08 {Engadget Mobile}
Dec 18th 2007 5:31AM Add me to the 'I don't buy it' camp. As with Symbian OS 9, Apple are going to be implementing an ultra secure signature-checked application environment, in which malware simply can't exist. At least not when installed through regular iTunes channels or over the air in 2008. The only way to get malware onto an iPhone will be through a hack - and the people who install a hack are guaranteed to be too smart to fall for malware in the first place.
Symantec, McAfee announce new mobile security wares {Engadget Mobile}
Nov 24th 2007 7:08AM N95? There *aren't* any viruses for Symbian OS 9 - they're err... impossible. As with the Treo comment above, why slow down the device with unnecessary processes???
