Nokia jumps on location-based mobile social networking bandwagon with Nokia Chat {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 15th 2008 9:09AM This is all a waste of time until there's a common standard for devices to interface to browsers. Unless you want to carry a Nokia phone for your Nokia friends, an iPhone for your iPhone friends, etc.

Sony VAIO hands-on extravaganza {Engadget}

Jul 14th 2008 10:50PM Why no tablet, Sony?

And why no Linux support? Don't tell me you feel sexy with Windows. It's not true.

I work with ordinary people, and they get excited running Mac. They think Linux is some fantasy land, where things are more difficult, but there might be fantastic secrets. Only Sony can bring out the fantastic secrets.

Dell's Latitude XT tablet goes multi-touch with a free upgrade, offers 128GB SSD for $649 {Engadget}

Jul 14th 2008 6:13PM is this a core Windows feature or a Dell add-on? Because add-on features tend to not work well with everything, and they sometimes get no support. An example is the middle (scroll) button of my thinkpad, it works great for many apps, but a few don't work as expected and scrolling does not work in many apps at all. At least in this case since Apple controls the hardware, it will work very consistently.

iPhone activation servers back online; stock updates from around the world {Engadget}

Jul 12th 2008 10:16AM I was in the main Rogers Toronto store at around 7:30 Friday. They were still selling iPhones, they were not sold out. I asked a rep and she said she guessed they had sold about 100 phones so far.

Sony's forthcoming VAIO Z series laptops unofficially detailed {Engadget}

Jul 11th 2008 10:48AM I asked this question in another post, with no answer. Are Sony notebooks build quality better now ? I've seen a couple of high end Vaios crumble to dust within a couple of years.

D-Link DSM-210 unboxing, hands-on, and mini-review {Engadget}

Jul 10th 2008 11:08AM If they'd put vnc on it, and a touchscreen I'd buy it. It'll be the new universal remote. I wonder who doesn't want that to happen.

Rogers caves on iPhone 3G plans, offers up 6GB for $30 a month {Engadget}

Jul 9th 2008 12:38PM Brandon, that won't help you much in terminal conditions. Don't you think it'd be better if you could choose to be disconnected before getting into the serious charges territory?

Granted, this is unlikely to happen with 6gb, but some will opt for their lessor plans.

I'm with Fido, and I don't receive the warning messages for voice usage, even though they've supposedly fixed the problem twice.

GM dropping Volt's range from 600 to 360 miles {Engadget}

Jul 9th 2008 10:50AM I guess you and all the other people who low ranked me even though I'm just expressing my opinion (should have expected that) should get out your masks and show your neighbors what you think of them.

Rogers caves on iPhone 3G plans, offers up 6GB for $30 a month {Engadget}

Jul 9th 2008 10:36AM I'm glad they caved, but it still leaves people in a position where they'll have to monitor their usage, and could inadvertently go over the limit and face a huge bill if they accidentally leave some browser window open, etc.

I'm very sad that the larger issue was missed here, reasonable internet rate plans for any wireless device in Canada. In the US the carriers have stated they will support any compatible device, in Canada you get second class treatment if you're not using one of the carrier's products, which will severely limit what people in this country can use on the wireless net.
