Alleged Sexual Predator Impersonates Police Using Geek Squad Badge {Switched.com}

Jun 23rd 2009 5:45PM Hence why most badges do not mean garbage now. All police, fire and EMS now have ID cards with your picture and anti-counterfeiting measures.

We still get badges, but most of our new uniforms use patches sowed right onto the shirt anyway. We have badges for our wallets and for our dress uniform. That and because a real honest to goodness badge costs like $80 - $120 a pop. A patch cost $5. Wearing a real badge on a uniform, you can end up loosing it because its pinned on and a lot of people lose them. Simple economics.

Desperate for Xbox Live? Hook it up with a 3G phone {Joystiq Xbox}

May 22nd 2009 3:45PM I'm assuming the "guy behind 7-11" is Comcast and their evil "bag of hurt" they throw their unwitting customers into.

UK Prisoners Allegedly Running Crime Syndicates with PlayStations {Switched.com}

May 19th 2009 3:11PM They don't deserve video games and all these other amenities in medium and maximum security prisons. Why are we wasting money on these criminals. They deserve an 8'x8' cell with only a door, lamp, toilet and cot. I can see minimum security prisons and club feds having this stuff for the white collar and non-violent/non-drug/non-RICOH violations.

How do you like your TiVo, with bleeps & bloops or without? {Engadget HD}

May 18th 2009 1:46PM I keep the sound on. On an unrelated note, I have to say I _HATE_ the advertising on the TiVo menus.

Construction Begins on Hi-Tech US Virtual Border Fence {Switched.com}

May 11th 2009 3:46PM I liked the idea of the Friendship trench. A 2,000 mile long, 100 foot wide by 160 foot deep trench filled with water and piranhas.

Apple puts a freeze on Snow Leopard APIs, freeing up developers to work their magic {Engadget}

May 11th 2009 2:35PM An Apple Developer License is only $499 a year and allows a single hardware purchase where you get at least $500 in discounts on (when purchasing a 17" MBP at least). So if you have the cash for a top of the line MBP, you actually save a few bucks by buying the ADC license and using it to buy the MBP.

Heck, even on regular macbooks the ADC cut a hefty amount off. Like $1100 for a base aluminum macbook. So, with the purchase of a low end machine, it doesn't cost that much to enter the "developer" forum. It's even better when your work pays for it.
