Ask Engadget: What's the best 40- to 50-inch HDTV with PC inputs? {Engadget}
May 9th 2008 1:38AM I've got a Panasonic Viera 42" that's a bit older (2005), but it's got a VGA port on the front panel, which makes access very easy (no fiddling around at the back). There's also standard RCA audio connecters, so a $5 cable solves that.
The PC mode is excellent, and resolution up to 1280x768 runs perfectly off my MacBook (haven't tried higher because the MacBook doesn't support it).
HD DVD camp issues sad little response to Netflix, Best Buy snubs {Engadget}
Feb 12th 2008 11:41AM I'm curious now to see what happens to the DVD Forum will do, given their endorsed format (however split the vote was) is going to lose to the format they rejected. (Blu-rays aren't officially DVDs thanks to this lack of endorsement)

Jan 25th 2008 8:58AM You mistake the PS3 for "games console", when really, it is a trojan horse for blu-ray to get into the lounge room by hijacking the brandname of Playstation.

Jan 25th 2008 8:51AM Given revenue growth year-on-year for the 4th quarter was only 3%, but the turn around was $659 million, that suggests significant cost cutting over actual growth of sales.

Joy of joys: Sony's TransferJet to be squarely pitted against industry standards of W-USB, Bluetooth 3.0? {Engadget}
Jan 14th 2008 10:48AM Sony, Sony, Sony, just as we thought you were learning...
Although... I can see the point. Sync without cables, with the possibility of charging, does sound like it would rock, as it means I wouldn't have to lug around any cables when on the road. It may already be there for phones through bluetooth, but cameras for example are a potential area for 'TransferJet' to rock in. Or, say, putting your PSP-3000 on top of your PS3-v3...

Jan 14th 2008 10:44AM Going further on the other comment in this thread - HD-DVD was developed by Toshiba, and only has a veneer of 'wider acceptance' because it was ratified by the DVD forum, not necessarily because it is a better format or otherwise has wider support.

Dec 21st 2007 11:49AM My current USB toolkit has enough to be getting on with, but I've not heard anything advertised like this before, so if San Disk do have something like it, they haven't sold it much (funnily enough, it's a San Disk Cruzr Micro, so not all have them I guess).
