Sep 12th 2008 8:39AM it's really not hard to do a DIY HDD replacement on a MBP, just remember to take everything slowly -- especially when you remove the top case/keyboard -- I thought I had ripped the ribbon cable's contact from the mobo when I lifted mine too quickly, but luckily they're the "quick disconnect" type ribbon connectors.

Porsche considering return of four-cylinder engines {Autoblog}
Sep 10th 2008 11:12AM I'd personally love to see the boxster and cayman set apart from the 911 by having turbo'd flat-fours, but then those that are used to the flat-six would cry that Porsche lopped two cylinders off to make the cars more mainstream or something like that.
I'd buy a Cayman with a turbo four if it was under $30-$35k...
Same old shtick: IIHS wants to delay licenses for teens {Autoblog}
Sep 9th 2008 2:51PM I'm with you -- I got my license at 16 and had 3 wrecks were I was at fault before I had turned 18. I was a total idiot with cars when I was that young. Even though it was a rite of passage for me and a relief on my parents, in retrospect, it was a bad idea. I would support legislation to raise the age to 17. I do, however, think that 17 should be the highest it should go. By the time kids hit 17, they usually have at least part-time jobs and need some more independence.

Sep 5th 2008 2:35PM I had a Z3 Coupe pass by me on the road yesterday and thought it was some ridiculous concept or one-off but then I looked it up. Lo and behold, this article pops up today and it looks like BMW is bringing it back with a lift kit and rebadging it as the X2!

Sep 4th 2008 12:34PM so far the tritecs in the minis have been doing well... even though BMW didn't develop those exclusively they have something to show in the US saying that they can do 4 cylinder engines well

Sep 4th 2008 12:30PM 170hp out of a 2.0L 4cyl? my civic does better than that... 'course it goes to 8k too...
why not throw a turbo on it, sacrifice 1-2mpg, and gain another 40 horses or so (if tuned properly)
