T-Mobile: we probably lost all your Sidekick data {Engadget}
Oct 10th 2009 9:26PM this is just nuts. I was told to reset my phone by tech support the first day of the outage (before they knew of a widespread outage) and that wiped my data. Now they are telling me it is ALL GONE!!! I don't care about the email and txt messages, not even about my contacts so much, as all of those that matter I can get back, but my Notes had all kinds of info, such as work info, list of who had what dvds, who owed me money all that is gone. This is ridiculous, SHAME ON TMOBILE FOR NOT ALLOWING USERS TO BACK THEIR PHONES UP TO PC / SD CARD.
Sidekick 3 review roundup {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 23rd 2006 7:49AM I played with one of these yesterday at a tmob store here in Ohio. It is a lot lighter/sleeker and felt good to talk on. The store employess never had a sim to use on it so I used my sk2 card and it popped in and I was off, I was floored at how quickly pages loaded with EDGE. I didn't get to play with the music player (had no minisd with music on it) so I couldn't tell if you could stream stereo sound in a BT earpiece. The only real complaint I have is the keyboard. It still feels nice but I guess i'm just used to the rubberized one of the SK2. I hope that the new keyboard at least has a silicone membrane underneath it so water or what have you doesn't reak havoc on it.

Kevin rose did this on his first ep of systm, though i think theirs was only 2.4 ghz spectrum and no where near as elegant/compact.
Sidekick III shows up on the FCC {Engadget}
Apr 22nd 2006 5:09PM I have an SK2, and I love the formfactor, but If Danger/t-mo don't have the features needed to stay competetive then the "oohh it's a sidekick" element won't be enough to cater to any market. Everyone who sees my phone envies it because there phones are not as capable but most next generation cell phones are bundling much of what the SK2 can do and more such as capture and watch videos/mp3/upload your own ringtone (which technically the SK can do but T-mo has turned that and MMS off.) Even phones not billed as smart phones have a wide array of features now. The only thing I see that has been the saving grace for the SK2 is the all you can eat data for 20 bucks. I know some people with new fancy phones but they don't use the IM, or email or what have you due to costly data usage. If the SK3 wants to be the premiere phone for both the youth market and techies, and anyone in between it needs to have a few things.
MP3 - Even 64 MB with a removable media slot will suffice. I don't expect my phone to replace my mp3 player
Bluetooth - As much as those ear pieces kinda annoy me,to be cutting edge in cell phones, you gotta have BT.
Camera - It needs to be better quality, even 1.3 would be fine, Video would be a plus but not necessary
Web browser - It is a great web browser but there are some features i wish they would add, namely allow you to zoom in on a photo on a website. I would love to read Penny arcade and actually read a map on my phone.
And if they could add swf/flash support. I want to kill time watching stupid flash cartoons on my phone.
