Online games as 'third places' {Joystiq}

Sep 20th 2006 7:20PM I've been in my guild for over a year now, and I'd consider a few of my online friends as close as my 'real' friends. My bro actually spends more time on WoW than I do (about 6-8 hours a night usually every day of the week). I know that is insanely unhealthy, but often times he (as in his character) is just standing around chatting in ventrillo. Some of my guildies live in California, I'm in Az, and we've thought about meeting up sometime to have a lan party. So all I'm saying is mmo's really can become a 3rd world or real to many of us, and I wish mainstream people could understand that.

Gaming by introverts, for introverts {Joystiq}

Sep 13th 2006 1:50PM I am a pretty big introvert so even MMO's often aren't my thing. I really like to do things on my own and socialize only when I want or need to. So if I'm playing WoW I only play with my close friends in my guild, or I PvP so I don't have to talk much. I really prefer enjoy single player games like FF's and action/adventure games. So what I'm really saying is I don't doubt that video games are designed and mostly played by introverts.

Apple spec bumps iMacs, minis, adds 24-inch iMac {Engadget}

Sep 6th 2006 3:07PM Ok, so I have a laptop, but no desktop and this new 24" imac seems to fit the bill. My only question, should I wait for leopard? Am I missing out on much of the new os's abilities if I just stick with tiger? What do you guys think I should do.

Ford demos new airbag-based seatbelt design {Engadget}

Sep 1st 2006 9:39AM Several years ago (probably five) the local news station here in phoenix did a spotlight on the guy who had just created these, or had gotten the pattent. It could have been more than five years ago, but if I recall he said he was trying to get every car manufacturer to install these by like 2004 or something. Well 2004 came and went and I forgot all about these. I think that new design with the position probably wasn't there when I saw it, but this is pretty cool. I showed this article to my dad, and he got quite a kick out of this, after seeing it so many years ago.

Another win for TiVo: Cox partnership pans out {Engadget}

Aug 24th 2006 11:38AM No, this is terrible. I have COX and the thought of Tivo makes me sick. I am under the impression that Tivo often complies with network demands and sets timers on certain programs. Some programs delete themselves after a short period. How convient, you go on vacation and you don't want to miss the next episode of (insert here ), so you record it, only it doesn't matter, because by the time you get back, it's alread deleted it self. If my understanding of this is incorrect, feel free to flame me, but right now, this dissapoints me. My COX DVR is fine as it is, and I won't be downloading the Tivo software.

PS3 Untold Legends looks *gasp* better {Joystiq}

Aug 19th 2006 10:48PM Call me cheap,but I'm much more excited for God of War 2

Sony adds five PS2 "Greatest Hits" titles to the dynasty {Joystiq}

Aug 8th 2006 9:42PM I don't really want a PS3, but I love FF games and Kingdom Hearts so much, I'm not sure I could even read reviews of either on the PS3 without owning one. I don't really want a XBox 360, I just don't care for sports games and shooters, but I really want a Wii, so I think I'll get a Wii, and wait two years to buy a PS3 once the kinks are all worked out and Square Enix has released a few games.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl scans leaked {DS Fanboy}

Aug 8th 2006 11:57AM You know the one thing I really feel my DS is missing is a Pokemon game. I'm and RPG kind of guy, and pokemon has a unique feel to it that no other game can replicate. I love my DS, but I probably won't touch it until FFIII comes out, and then when Pokemon comes out.

Portable Gamecube rumor returns briefly {Joystiq}

Aug 7th 2006 9:02PM If this rumor where to ever come true I would probably wet myself on spot, or at least crack a smile. I think Sony proved the handheld is capable of high end graphics, but I think it will be Nintendo to truly put it all together, and make quite the promising handheld. FYI I do own a DS Lite, but I'm a little bored waiting for FFIII. I think the gamecube disc would be great, but controlling it would sure be weird if it were to play gamecube games ( A/B buttons, analong stick, c stick, d-pad), they'd have to find some intuitive way to work that out. Who knows if this is in the works, but don't doubt Nintendo.
