Another team figures out how to convert waste heat into energy {Engadget}

Jul 25th 2008 3:35PM Automakers could just skip the inefficient waste heat power generation with thermoeletrics and go straight to nuclear battery powered cars (France gets most of its power from nuclear, maybe they are interested).
It's a great breakthrough, but I think the whole car part was thrown in for a "wow" factor for the laymen reader.

Rhapsody users experiencing login issues? {Engadget}

Dec 12th 2007 7:10PM I can't login as well, which is odd since I can check my account, and it is there but no login... I was thinking it was a firewall thing since I recently moved to a different network, guess not.

I was contemplating switching to a subscription service that uses WMP, and this is definitely not persuading me to stay with Rhapsody!

Boeing Laser Avenger: Humvee with frikkin' laser on its head {Autoblog}

Nov 16th 2007 6:50PM Pretty hard to tell how powerful this laser is from the little information provided here or in the Popular Mechanics article since the destructive power of a laser varies greatly based upon if its pulsed or constant, the beam width, and the distance to the target. But I don't see why it couldn't easily punch through the skin of an IED to set off the explosives. Another article mentioned it was a solid state laser which would lower its power consumption significantly and likely negate the giant trailer someone mentioned.

Apple refusing to accept cash for iPhone, limits 'em to two per person {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 27th 2007 2:13AM I looked into this when paying a parking ticket in pennies, and I believe that law really only applies to the actual federal government, and when you are talking about private institutions it becomes a bit stickier. They could probably get away with it if they post a sign or something about it, sort of like those "no bills larger then a $20" signs that seedy places have.

Just because they are legal tender does not mean they have to accept them I don't think.
