BlackBerry 9000 in the wild {Engadget Mobile}
Mar 31st 2008 9:49PM Wow, this thing is hideous. How could any rational human being use the word sexy in the same breath as this device. It's at best lipstick on a pig. Does Blackberry have a corporate death wish. One Infinite Loop is playing patty cakes if they haven't noticed. They're in it for the big prize--dominance. As for the iPhone, five friends at work have it and can't believe they ever lived without it, and these aren't Apple die hards. I finally have one, now I wish I'd waited for 2.0, and I can't believe how amazing it is. The phone is just amazing--period. Apple haters like to say otherwise but it's a bit like saying, 'hey there's unicorn in my front yard.' The virtual keyboard awesome as well, I actually thought it was going to be a problem originally but it was just a perception. Blackberry has to innovoate better than this or Apple will have there market jugular before too long. They're probably stuck in the same gridlock Microsoft is; they have a bunch of brilliant engineers like Apple or any other company, but the executive branch of the company won't untie the ropes that hold them back from creating some really cool toys. Those are my useless thoughts.
How would you change the iPod touch? {Engadget}
Sep 29th 2007 1:11PM iPod is a music/video/ebook device, not a PDA. The temptation for people is to criticize a device for being what it's not instead of praising what it is. The more I use multi-touch on my iPhone, the more I'm amazed.. It's simply brilliant! iPod Touch is the same. My only wish is that Apple would have dispensed with the Classic line and instead created both a high end and low end storage iPod Touch. Anyway, with wireless internet capability, the full blown Safari browser, and ease and flexibility of navigating, and igoogle online apps, the device affectively becomes a wireless PDA by extension anyway. Apps and data storage don't need to be local anymore.
Microsoft extends sales of Windows XP till June 2008 {Engadget}
Sep 28th 2007 5:59PM Precious few people get excited about Microsoft's OS. As a whole, they're a completely uninteresting and non-sexy company (with perhaps the exception of Xbox), but they have the PC market and likely always will so transitional pains from platform to platform are normal in the life cycle. People will change, they'll hate it for a while (especially IT guys and gals), then they'll adjust to it after some patches and time, then Vista will become status quo again and so the circle of Microsoft's OS life will begin anew and they'll make another gazillion dollars while they work on there next uninteresting OS.
