Sep 7th 2007 1:47PM Actually you can use ANY GSM phone on their network. They don't lock their phones like Verizon does! You can a phone on eBay or directly from a reseller for about the same price as one with 2 year contract.

Sep 7th 2007 1:46PM That is such a load of crap Trooth! Have you been to Europe, Asia, Australia or South America lately?? There you can buy any phone you want and use it with any service you want (GSM at least) and they don't seem to have any problems with support for their phones! In fact you can do the same (by law) with AT&T and T-Mobile. Funny how CDMA networks in the US don't have to allow unlocked phones...
And when was the last time you were forced to buy your TV through your cable company or your stove through your gas company?? You don't because all gas stoves are designed to work with all gas companies!! I don't seem to recall any support issues with my stove either...
By the way, I can guarantee you that Verizon makes money on the sale of their phones, albeit not a very large percentage, but they make their bread and butter from the service they charge you.
