Microsoft store opening October 22nd, insides revealed? {Engadget}

Oct 16th 2009 2:26PM I agree. That's the main reason I stop in the Apple store whenever I'm in the mall.

Too bad the Apple stores in Toronto block Facebook access from the Macs in the store. :(

Video: Palm Pre jumps the border, now shipping on Bell {Engadget}

Aug 27th 2009 11:46AM It's not the phone companies that are mental - it's us Canadians that have let them get away with the 3-year contract BS.

You can't blame the companies for trying to keep clients as long as possible, but you can blame the consumer for accepting it.

5-10 years ago the contracts in Canada were only for 2 years. Then Telus bumped theirs up to 3 years. Instead of flocking to the other carriers, we kept on giving Telus our business. Obviously when the other carriers saw that they could offer a 3year contract without shooting themselves in the foot, that's exactly what they did.

Within 6 months there will be at least 3 new carriers in Canada, and hopefully this 3 year contract BS will eventually be history.

More evidence mounting of an 8GB iPhone 3GS? {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 10th 2009 12:15PM Well, knowing it's from Robbers.... errr.... ROGERS, I'm sure they would love to sell an 8gb 3GS for the same price as are selling the 16gb version now.

One man's trash is another's treasure: 75 pounds of Verizon crap for sale on eBay {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 19th 2008 11:09AM Wow.....

It's amazing how much crap the marketing department or various corporations dish out. All the while thinking that is has ANY effect on a consumer.

When is the last time ANYONE has bought ANYTHING because they had a pen with a company name on it? Or a lanyard?

"Hey! Verizon just gave me a keychain! I've always wanted one of those! I'm going to switch my cell service RIGHT NOW!"

"Wow! A cheap plastic travel mug! Yippee! I might use it twice before I realize it's not worth using it because coffee drips all over my shirt!"

What I'd like to see is the government imposing an additional tax on the makers of this crap and the distributors (like Verizon) to help pay for the extra room in the garbage dump (which is where all of this ends up, sooner rather than later).

LTE trial deemed a success: 170Mbps downloads in a moving car {Engadget}

Sep 19th 2008 9:55AM Holy crap! What the heck are Germans doing with old crappy cars and even older laptops?!?!

ESPECIALLY if you''re testing brand new technology from a multi-million dollar corporation!

Geez, at least get a new laptop, even cheap ones should go for less than 1000 euros in Germany, and then you wouldn't have to hardwire the laptop into the car to get power (like they seem to have done here).

Not to knock the Powerbook (I have a similar one that's been collecting dust in a closet for almost 10 years).

Taking into account the fact that it's an ancient car and an even more ancient laptop, I'd say this might be a photoshop job......

Sharp debuts all new line of boomboxes at CEDIA {Engadget}

Sep 3rd 2008 7:30PM Dual cassette decks? Sharp is kickin' it old school!

Wait! It gets better!

"Multi-colored lights on the front speakers and subwoofer flash along with the music."

Awesome!

So, this plays everything from 80's cassettes to your iPod, and even mp3 and WMA files. What? No 8-tracks???

Me thinks that some old Sharp exec is still clinging on to his cassette tape collection and when his current boombox bit the dust he told the engineers to make a new one.

Canada's industry boss: don't like incoming text charges? Switch carriers {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 14th 2008 12:38PM That Minister (Jim Prentice) is an ass.

So, his advice is to switch carriers? Hmmmm...... so if I'm locked in a 3 year contract, his advice is to break out of that contract (and pay a hefty fine) to avoid paying additional charges that should not have been added during the contract term.....

Thanks for nothing Prentice!

Newspaper Misspells Its Name on Front Page {Switched.com}

Jul 25th 2008 5:06PM You know, perhaps it was a way to sell more papers?

"Hey, look at this, it's spelled incorrectly! Let's all buy one for keeps!"

Rogers announces iPhone 3G plans, unlimited data isn't one of them {Engadget}

Jun 27th 2008 12:45PM Coincidently, Rogers has announced this "Fuck you up the ass" plan just before Pride Weekend in Toronto.

Ah well, at least I'll have fun at the parade this weekend with my girlfriend, trying to decide if I want to switch to CDMA/Bell/Telus.
