DROID mania sweeps the nation, so to speak {Engadget}

Nov 6th 2009 10:14AM This phone is hot! Can't believe how nice it is to be using a real browser with this crazy sharp screen. No more WinMo nonsense. Keyboard works great too.

MOTO releases AMP MID, the OLED Android 2.0 handheld you didn't even know existed {Engadget}

Nov 6th 2009 7:12AM @koala: I know, that's why I'm asking who this MOTO Development Group is. You'd think it had something to do with Motorola, but look at moto.com and you'll see they're not the same (or rather you'd see signs that they are different but nothing that says "This company is in no way related to Motorola, and we are in now way trying to rip off the name. Seriously, for realz."

Nov 6th 2009 6:43AM What the hell is "MOTO"? Motorola needs to sue them.

AT&T sues Verizon over 'there's a map for that' ads {Engadget}

That was what I was going to say too. Maybe in some other version of the ad, but not in this one:

It's all legit. Frustrated dude who can't watch videos on a 3G network.

Nov 3rd 2009 5:15PM No, you can do both simultaneously. You're thinking of CDMA 1x, but EV-DO networks (and EV-DO Rev 1) don't have that problem. "Broadband" on Verizon's map is both EV-DO and EV-DO Rev 1.

Except that AT&T is claiming that Verizon's ads are damaging them by misinforming existing AT&T users, while AT&T has been spending millions to educate those same users about what "3G" is.

They have to be able to prove that people wouldn't reasonably know what 3G means. Not going to happen when they're the ones teaching their users about that difference, many of whom bought their iPhone 3G/3Gs specifically because of that difference.

Nov 3rd 2009 4:35PM How could it be more clear? AT&T uses "EDGE" and "3G" in their own advertising when they want to be precise about the types of technology in use when they're making their claims, so they can't now claim that people aren't aware of what "3G" means. AT&T *used to* even have a map just like the one Verizon used in the commercial (though you'll note they now have just some useless text-only list of cities in states that support 3G. That's the real crime here - AT&T now purposefully makes it difficult to find out where they do and don't have 3G coverage. I wonder why. Oh right, because Verizon's ads are completely right about AT&T's 3G service being spotty.

How would you change Sony's PlayStation 3 Slim? {Engadget}

Nov 3rd 2009 12:46PM @dagamer43: For those of us with very high speed connections at home (e.g. FiOS is at 50mb/sec), downloading movies from PSN should be a snap, but it takes far too long over 802.11g. It's easy to test by comparing d/l speeds using g vs ethernet into the PS3. 802.11n is definitely needed. I can see this even just with Comcast's 20mb/sec.

Best Buy offering DROID pre-orders as of today, automates the mail-in rebate {Engadget}

Oct 29th 2009 12:39PM Go to a Best Buy store. That's all there is to it, no online preordering either at best buy or vzw.

And what is that "*cough*" crap? I can't believe you wrote that twice.
