Verizon gets official with Visual Voicemail service {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 11th 2008 5:28PM You guys are crazy. There is a reason why verizon is the most profitable and stable wireless carrier with the best network. If you want a premium service, then skip that cup of starbucks one day a month and BAM!!! you just paid for your visuall voicemail. Plus if you get a lot of voicemails, this could save you a ton of time, which is also worth $3/month.

Verizon shouldn't give away everything for free. This is a great service, and $3 is a fair price. And I'll bet any of you that att will soon be charging for any visual voicemail service they offer.

Get off your high horses and realize that cell companies are business TO MAKE MONEY. Not give everything away. You want to know what happens when you give away the farm? Take a look at Sprints recent numbers....

Jul 1st 2008 2:27PM can you really end your contract then re sign up right away? Verizon makes you wait 6 months before you can come back I believe.

Verizon rolling out visual voicemail in coming months {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 17th 2008 2:27PM Im not super happy with them charging for it. But if you give it away, you get no revenue. Might as well charge a couple of bucks and the people that want it or need it will pay for it. If 1 Million people subscribe (which isnt really that many), thats $2 Million a month. If you were a business would you want to give up $2 Million a month just because some other company is giving it away for free? You can't just give products and services away because consumers want you to.

And I would be willing to bet that within 3 months att will start charging for it. They always let verizon take the pricing lead.

Just my two cents

Verizon's RemoSync brings Direct Push email to select handsets {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 10th 2008 5:31PM @D

Verizon never claimed that openness was related to vznavigator, its related to using other non verizon cdma phones. All companies have to make money so they can improve their offerings to customers and stay in business. If they start giving stuff away, then they lose revenue and then ultimately people lose jobs. Want an example--take a look at the thousands of jobs sprint has cut in the past year, then look at their financial status and how their business is trending.

If you want to show a company that something is too expensive. You have two options.

1. Leave

2. Dont buy the service.

Jun 10th 2008 3:32PM No I don't, but i do have a background in business and respect it when it company is successful and knows how to make money. I have verizon service and I have never felt nickel and dimed as some others have felt. People on tech blogs and websites always think everything is to expensive and want no regulation of anything.

thats just not realistic, and I truly believe that $10 is an affordable and fair price for this service. If you think it's too much, then don't buy it.

Jun 10th 2008 2:26PM hows it offensive? It gives you the same connectivity as a blackberry. and its still cheaper the unlm BB service ($30). Thats how they got the $10 price point. $5 is definitely not enough, because the prolly didn't want to canibalize any of their BB revenue. At $5 people may have given up their BB's and returned to a regular phone.

There's a reason why verizon is very financially stable. You can't just give stuff away, and be a reputable company (take a look at whats going on over at sprint....) And ATT does the same damn thing.

Apr 5th 2008 2:49AM I like the silver one. They both look pretty solid, but I like the color contrast in the silver. I think the silver will look better in person when you actually see it in person.
