Bill proposes bill break: five-year wireless tax freeze on the table {Engadget Mobile}
Jul 20th 2008 1:14PM if you forbid them from raising federal taxes, they'll just raise local taxes or other fees & surcharges. It is pretty crazy when a $65 bill of service results in nearly $20 worth of taxes and fees - that's almost 30% taxes on a service!

Jul 6th 2008 9:34AM why not just get a Nokia 5310 for less? Sure, it doesn't have much internal memory, but it comes with a 1GB card, and even after buying a 4GB card, it'll still be less than this. It's also more than an ounce lighter, and guess what? it has actual buttons =p
Nokia's $560 N78 now available in US {Engadget}
Jun 24th 2008 11:51AM @ Zak, even with a $20 unl. data plan, you'd save $240 over the two years. Add in tax and the prices get that much closer. Then you have things like a easily replaceable battery, A2DP, an open OS, and lets not forget the lack of a 2yr ball-n-chain ... so i'd say this is a competitive product.

Coolpad showcases dual-band, dual-SIM handset at CommunicAsia {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 20th 2008 11:21AM Ahhhh ... I think you mean dual-mode. Dual-band only idicates that the phone works on more than one frequency (850MHz/1900MHz for instance), but not more than one mode (technology). That said, almost every phone available today is at least a dual-band handset. In fact, only the cheapos are only dual-band, us geeks prefer quad-band.
