Apr 21st 2008 12:42PM I bought an unlocked GSM verison and am pretty happy with it. It's a good phone/PDA combo.

Mar 28th 2008 11:22PM I picked up a black GSM Centro a few weeks ago from a retailer in the UK...one with sparkles. The Palm O/S is OK and the phone quality is generally fine. There are a few aspects like the thin toothpick-like stylus that I am not crazy about but all in all a decent package if you want to combine a Palm PDA and phone into one unit but don't want to carry around a Treo brick. Camera is also decent. Price was $300 FYI.

AT&T loses its cool over GoPhone unlockers {Engadget Mobile}
Feb 18th 2008 9:58PM The telcos will never change their business model of cheap phones and a lock on a 2 year commitment so long as their lobbyists keep funneling money to the politicians to ensure their cartel remains in force. I live in Hong Kong where almost all phones are sold unlocked (GSM). There is complete number portability and REAL competition between carriers. In one of the most expensive cities in the world, I pay about US$13 for 800 minutes (I think....the plan is so cheap, I don't even keep track of it).
Nokia secretly shows E71 at Mobile Wor... er, in Sydney {Engadget Mobile}
Feb 17th 2008 11:22AM If you click to the BGR source and scroll down, there is a link in one of the comments to the correct image of this phone. Looks very similar in detail to the E51 except with a qwerty. Much nicer than the E61.

Jan 29th 2008 11:35PM "Technology" when it works well, should be like magic and accessible to first time users. The iPhone, like the iPod before it, redefined an entire class of products (because of this magic) and this is what the mainstream consumer wants. The tech users who frequent blogs like this are in the minority.

Jan 29th 2008 8:44AM Not surprising....I took a look at the new Z8 model at a shop in HK and was shocked at the poor quality. The plastic felt cheap and the keypad looked like it was stamped out by hand. The Z8 is not in the same league as Nokia quality.
