Vodafone debuts BlackBerry Storm 9500 {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 7th 2008 7:21PM Wasn't there an article recently saying that RIM is sticking with the "Storm" for all versions of the phone?

Verizon tells us all about the BlackBerry Storm's "WOW factors" {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 23rd 2008 12:29PM Official confirmation that it DOES have Quadband GSM. Only 2100 HSPA though. This exact device could easily end up on Voda too. So what if it also has CDMA? It has the bands Voda needs, and it can roam on Verizon in the states.

So nay to all the naysayers who said it would never have GSM 850/1900.

Verizon Blackberry Storm talking points slip out {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 15th 2008 6:59PM The term "Quadband" has always been synonymous with "Quadband GSM". Until I see specs that state otherwise I'll stand by that. Regardless, the 9500 for Rogers and Eurasian providers will undoubtedly be Quadband GSM with (at least) Triband HSPA (850/1900/2100).

Canada's industry boss: don't like incoming text charges? Switch carriers {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 14th 2008 12:54PM Big surprise that this Conservative government has failed us yet again. That and the fact that they want to make unlocking phones illegal.

Sony Ericsson drags hard on Sony's numbers {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 2nd 2008 3:06AM Honestly, a couple of quarters of not-so-great growth and Sony is suddenly going to cut and run from a profitable joint venture? After all those years of red ink? I don't think so. Get real people. SE was spending too much on R&D, but that just means they should have some good stuff in the pipeline. And if they don't, they should refocus their efforts on making a select few REALLY good phones, rather than having a million lackluster phones. Remember the glory days when the W810 was the best phone in it's class? They don't need to shove more features into a phone than Nokia, they just need to make something that works better. A good, solid phone with all the features people need (quadband EDGE + triband HSDPA), as well as a decent camera (5 mp at this point), WiFi, very usable keys for texting, an attractive body, and they'll do great. Oh and more marketing would be good too.

Sony Ericsson sees net profits fall 97%, looks to cut 2,000 jobs {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 18th 2008 6:57PM I don't see Sony Ericsson making phones for Verizon/Sprint/Bell/Telus/Alltel/Sasktel/MTS until they adopt LTE. SE better hurry up and buy HTC to buy some of its success.

Sony Ericsson sees net profits fall 97%, looks to cut 2,000 jobs {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 18th 2008 3:57PM If "Sony" had crappy handsets, then why was Sony Ericsson the most profitable cell phone manufacturer a quarter or two ago?

That said, they have to push out phones faster. These Swedish and Japanese people must learn from the Koreans. The delay on the Z750 was inexcusable. Here's hoping phones like the Z780 and C905 and X1 are released a lot faster.

82% of America never uses text messaging {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 8th 2008 1:35AM I find these numbers hard to believe. As an avid texter, I probably text a whole lot more than any of my friends, but they all KNOW what texting is, have received texts from me, and have sometimes even replied. And I'm not even a teenager anymore, haven't been for over 6 years.

Sony Ericsson W595 spied? {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 6th 2008 3:37PM Is it just me or does every Samsung, Motorola, Nokia, LG look the same?
