Dell plans to slash 8,800 jobs, cut $3 billion in costs {Engadget}
Apr 1st 2008 5:18PM Ya they should stop trying to make money. How dare corporations try and make profit. Thats ridiculous.
The reality is DELL is getting eaten alive by its competitors and extreme measures are necessary to save the company.
Vodafone's 2008 roadmap gets outed, new BlackBerry included {Engadget Mobile}
Mar 31st 2008 5:49PM Yes but has the web browser been improved? If the browser was actually usable I would be all over this phone for its messaging and data capabilities, but the iPhone version of Safari has yet to be beat IMHO. Its good to see an improved UI that Blackberry needed bad and I hope a better browser follows. Would love to see a partnership with Firefox or Opera on the RIM systems. Seems like a deadly combination. And yes I mean a dedicated already installed firefox mobile specifically for the Blackberry. WinMO has IE and iPhone safari, this would be a nice fit.
Analysis: iWork and Office for Mac {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Aug 26th 2007 10:18PM @30: LMAO QUIX, you nailed down my thoughts completely. I have no proof to back it up but since i removed Office 2004 from my Mac for native Neo Office and iWork 08 i feel like the machine runs better, maybe its just psychological knowing the big M is out of the dock.

Aug 26th 2007 2:18PM iWork 08 is an amazing program. As for compatability why not download Neo Office for free or better yet wait a few more months for the Open Office Mac Version to be completed. I do not understand why anyone would pay for Microsoft Office that is not a hardcore business user. It makes no sense. On PC open office is a perfectly good alternative for 97% of users. Diddo for Neo Office on the Mac.
Ask Engadget: PC or Mac for back to school? {Engadget}
Aug 24th 2007 2:50AM Have you tried NEO OFFICE for Mac? Its been a good solution for me at school at least until Open Office finishes their Mac version. Office 2007 has some shiny polish but seems like a rip off kind of like Vista. Ive stuck to Open Office and XP on my PCs.

Macbooks are selling faster then any laptop in history for college students, I feel like no one posting here is even in college lol, the macs are everywhere its like having an HP or Dell is the rebel kid now, total 180.
That being said, college students can get VISTA upgrade for like 70 bucks and office 07 for like 20, but I personally would go open office or Neo Office on the mac over paying for my office programs.
Really bro I think it comes down to what you need and I think you would have a better experience on a Mac booting Vista or XP, but you could do all the things you need to do on a PC as well. I've got Macs and PCs and I boot VISTA, UNBUTU and SOLARIS 10 on my Mac Pro and MBP and its been an amazing experience all around.
My computing world has become about WHAT I WANT TO DO and not what i CAN do. No PC diehard or fanboy can ever say that because Apple will never let OSX be run on PCs IMO. Whether or not thats bullshit is irrelevant its just the way it is. Good luck on your purchase kid (who prolly isnt reading any of this)
How would you change Windows Vista? {Engadget}
Aug 19th 2007 9:26PM PWNED!!! You said it Bro, ive got a Mac laptop, a XP/VISTA Desktop and Linux Dual booting on both and the plain and simple fact is they all have strengths and weaknesses. XP was a complete pile of crap until years of patching which has arrived us at the version that people are now attempting to ditch Vista for. Linux is great until my family wants to use the computer and then oh shit. The Mac is cruising until i want to play a game or watch a netflix movie online or some-other activity that requires IE.

Aug 10th 2007 11:10AM Backlight on a desktop keyboard. Have you ever heard of this crazy invention made about a century ago called the lightbulb. You turn this ****er on and bam, there is light. Laptops need backlighting because they can be anywhere AKA places without light. Go buy a 5 dollar lamp at target.
Microsoft announces Halo 3 Special Edition Console {Engadget}
Aug 9th 2007 11:23AM I am sorry if you think white looks the best you have horrible taste. The white/beige-esque disgustingness of the 360 coupled with the heat problems = one of the worst design decisions in the history of microsoft and thats saying alot, *cough* VISTA *cough*. I love Halo and will probablly buy another 360 just to play it but after the novelty wears off its back on EBay, its too much crap to deal with, if the 65nm really comes in September and improves the god awful reliability issues then perhaps I will keep it, but PS3 keeps adding features through free updates and once the hit games start coming I think the 360 is done for me. Give me the PS3 and Wii please.
