Sanyo SCP-2700 hands-on {Engadget Mobile}

Apr 3rd 2009 12:25AM After years of the Sanyo fanboys arguing otherwise, the SCP-2700 confirms the obvious:

Sanyo is dead.

This phone doesn't have the design, quality, or software to compete with any messaging phones from true Tier I manufactures. The Samsung Magnet is a much better device in both form, quality, and functionality than this really cheap, hideous, and cheaply built brick.

Sanyo is done, has been for a long time now. The Samsung v. Sanyo days at Sprint are over. Samsung won hands down, it's over fanboys.

Samsung Instinct S30 now official, coming to Sprint on April 19th {Engadget Mobile}

Apr 1st 2009 1:41AM Have you ever used an Instinct, carcomptoy, or are you talking in generalization?

Because I use both the Instinct and the iPhone on a daily basis (Sprint is my corporate acount) and there is little to no difference in the touch screen of the Resistive Instinct and the Capacitive iPhone. If anything, the Apple is a bit of a pain to use, as you cannot use a fingernail or the end of a pen/pencil.

I also have a "capacitive" Samsung screen on my YP-P2. It's terrible compared to both the iPhone and Instinct. Unresponsive all the time.

Samsung seems to generally do the resistive touchscreens better than anyone else. If you've used an LG or Motorola touch, it's a different affair, you really need to push the display, which is just annoying.

In comparison, the Instinct and iPhone are G-R-E-A-T at responding with even the slightest flick/touch. There are a lot of deficiencies with the Instinct, but the resisitve screen generally isn't one of them.

Some Samsung smartphone for AT&T hits the FCC -- Propel Pro, perhaps? {Engadget Mobile}

Mar 2nd 2009 1:08AM The i627 is the "propel pro". The i637 is another device.

Palm Pre handled, handed out to celebrities? {Engadget Mobile}

Feb 23rd 2009 4:43PM suddenly all the korean models holding phones look second rate!.

show it off Eliza, you're the real thing!

Harman, Mercedes working on modular built-in nav systems {Engadget}

Feb 7th 2009 5:08PM I actually prefer the OEM factory nav units to the portable ones. The interface definitely looks less cartoony, the screens are much brighter, and it also fully integrates with the vehicle's other systems (trip computers, tire pressure monitoring systems (TMPS), etc. I'll take an OEM unit anyday over some other crap.

BTW, the latest COMMAND in Mercedes-Benz vehicles is very, very good. It actually displays ALL directions in the MFA between the gauges (German speak for Multifunction Anzeige). The systems displays which lane you are in, can rip music to the onboard HDD, and even rotates into the dash just as the picture above shows (think that is the GLK class though). Very nice system.

Samsung BlackJack II tops Consumer Reports' list of best smartphones {Engadget Mobile}

Dec 18th 2008 6:13PM Yeah, except the N71 feels like a Fisher Price toy in your hand. Obnoxious build quality on that phone, hollow cheap, unrefined, uncoated plastic. I have no idea where Nokia gets off releasing such poorly constructed handsets (the N95 is the same way, cheap flibsy plastic, cheap sliding mechanism).

AT&T taking Samsung a867 Eternity orders from stores, should be available this week {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 10th 2008 3:54PM The confusion comes from the fact that there were some pre-production testers floating around that carried 5mp cameras. It's 3mp on the final product though.

Samsung's "Style Report" flip phone -- you know, reports style {Engadget Mobile}

Oct 3rd 2008 3:43PM Sprint was planning on releasing this phone for the last 6-8 months. It had dual QVGAs and a 3MP camera. It also had EV-DO Rev. A for QChat HPPTT. It was CANCELLED. Sprint is so dumb sometimes.

Chevy Volt hits the road, video style {Engadget}

Sep 21st 2008 9:53PM This is a great solution though I wonder what the Diesel Hybrids are going to net as far as MPG.. There is a Golf running 75mpg through the European cycle. I have a 2005 Passat TDI, it's sized like an Accord/Camry, but consistantly averages 48mpg on long highway stunts. Great car, and much more fun to drive than a Prius, which handles like a small yatch.

AT&T's version of the Samsung Omnia actually the "Mirage," coming next month? {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 16th 2008 3:48PM THIS POSTING IS COMPLETELY INACCURATE!

The SGH-i907 is the Blackjack III. Look at the FCC renderings of the phone for gods sakes! It's the ATT/North American version of the SGH-i780/i788. GO LOOK AT THE FCC PAGE!

AGAIN, COMPLETELY WRONG. Engadget needs to edit this. DON'T SAY NOBODY TOLD YOU SO WHEN THIS PHONE LAUNCHES AND ISN'T THE OMNIA!
