.Mac is down: Gather your children! Into the cellar! {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 27th 2008 11:47AM I cannot believe there are people who actually rely upon this service. When Gmail is unreachable for 30 seconds I get antsy.

I think MobileMe is really cool, but I could never trust Apple with my mail after the way mac.com has behaved over the last 3 months.

And for those apologistssuggesting this is to prep for the me.com transfer, I'd say that's piss poor planning to create outages for a migration. I was knocked out of Gmail when they went to v2, and Hotmail was never unreachable as it became Live Mail, Yahoo's beta is running ni parallel. Why can't Apple manage .Mac and the Apple Store without outages???

Slashfood Ate (8): Foods I can't stomach during the summer {Slashfood}

Jun 26th 2008 9:17PM Historically, meats were always eaten at breakfast. In fact, cereal, muffins, pastries, etc as a morning food is generally accepted as an inventions of the 1900s.

Queen Elizabeth I is famous for having started each day with a steak and a pitcher of beer.

iPhone 2.0 firmware goes golden master {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 26th 2008 12:19PM Seriously, I am absolutely perplexed at why they don't include MMS like every other phone on the planet. It is absolutely ridiculous that the iPhone has NO POSSIBLE WAY to retreive an MMS. You must use a computer elsewhere, making the entire exercise utterly pointless. On top of that, the a-holes at use viewmymassage.com use Flash, making saving a picture an impossibility.

I am nonplussed. WTF Apple??

TNFNS: Let's be nice, now {Slashfood}

Jun 23rd 2008 7:02PM I like Lisa, I like Kelsey, and I like Shane, although only the two girls are actually mostly-TV-ready. Frankly, I think most of the actual cooking challenges are pretty tough and not very indicative of your actual ability to cook. I would like to see a show on Indian cooking, although not hosted by Nipa. None of these cooking challenges would be necessary to teach ethnic cooking.

All the prep and skill challenges are worthwhile though, if only to see if these people have *any* idea what they're talking about.

What will you do with your old iPhone? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 20th 2008 3:34PM Almost definitely not. You will need an iPhone plan from AT&T, or you won't get data, probably not visual voice mail, maybe more?

WWDC '08: 280 North {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 15th 2008 1:23PM Let's hear more about Objective-J. Is it portable? I'd love to see this thing.

Grilling out this weekend? Rub some chocolate on that steak {Slashfood}

I posted this just a few days ago. Cocoa on steak is an interesting mix, especially if it's combined with chilis. This should make it really easy for everyone to try it:

Apple's worst logo ever? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 11th 2008 10:11AM This is the dumbest thread ever on TUAW. First of all, the logo is NOT intended for businesses, who should be on a enterprise level. It's meant for consumers, and looks it.

Second of all, the logo is just fine. It demonstrates exactly what the product does - it takes those items and pushes them to "the cloud."

And third of all, it's kind of pathetic that people are carrying on about it like it matters at all. Does it really matter?

TUAW Review: RapidWeaver 4 {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 2nd 2008 2:55PM TUAW is a weblogs.com weblog, so no, it's templated on an shared internal engine. Check out Slashfood or Engadget or any of the other sites at the bottom of the page, they're all very similar.

Ask TUAW: Backup Boot Camp, RARs, OS X in foreign languages, syncing Outlook to iPhone, and more {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 29th 2008 11:39AM You can go into iCal and subscribe to your Google calendar and then choose it when syncing your iPhone, no additional software -freeware or not - needed. Along with the Outlook-Google Calendar sync tool mentioned above and provided by Google, you're all set.

Just make sure you go into your Google Calendar and set up a private URL in your preferences. Then use iCal to subscribe to it. You're all set. I do this all the time and keep all three calendars in sync.
