MobileMe mail offline for 'some users'... again {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Nov 10th 2009 2:23PM This is really obnoxious. I pay Apple $99/year for this "service", yet millions pay Google NOTHING for Gmail and I guarantee it's down FAR less often than MobileMe.
Comcast announces new bandwidth throttling scheme (update: old news) {Engadget}
Nov 5th 2009 4:16PM You know this only happens if the CMTS you're connected to is congested in the first place, right? I bet this won't affect a good many of you. If the CMTS you're connected to is congested to begin with then you'll never be getting your full speeds anyway.
And congested CMTS's are nothing special to Comcast, it's something that happens to every cable company.
Lenovo goes crazy, lets you switch Fn and Ctrl keys in BIOS {Engadget}
Nov 5th 2009 9:18AM Doesn't everyone just double tap the space bar? I do that all the time now, and I'm very happy Apple added it some time ago to the iPhone.

Oct 29th 2009 1:49PM Congrats to Moto! And their Symbol division which did pretty well.
Apple to bring changes to retail stores {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Oct 29th 2009 10:20AM They're not completely ditching the scanners. Yes, the all-in-one POS Symbol devices are going, but they're just buying new Symbol credit card scanners which (I believe) are wireless. Just like the wireless receipt printers they use (which are mounted under all the tables).

Oct 29th 2009 10:17AM 1) How lazy are you and unobservant that you can't take a second to see what the colors mean?
2) They're Symbol (owned by Motorola) handheld POS devices which run WinMo. They work quite well actually.

Oct 29th 2009 10:14AM @Arix - Uh, the shirts have labels on the sleeves. The managers say "Manager", concierge says "Concierge", and specialists say "Specialist." The Genius shirts also say Genius right on the front usually.
Verizon Storm2 on October 28th, BlackBerry OS 5.0 for original Storm out now {Engadget}
Oct 26th 2009 8:58AM The clicking on the new Storm is indeed controlled by software, but the user cannot turn it on or off. You should really try it out though, it's vastly improved. It uses Piezo (spelling?) electric "spots", four of them actually, to tell when you're clicking. When the screen is powered off only the bottom area (where the four buttons are) clicks.
BlackBerry Storm update landing tomorrow, bringing lots of good stuff (update: now with changelog!) {Engadget}
Oct 24th 2009 2:19PM Seems like it got pushed back to Monday. I'm a bit surprised VZW isn't pushing this out OTA, since that'll get to the maximum number of Storm owners. I know plenty of them that would never think to check for OS updates on VZW's website, let alone know what Desktop Manager is or how to use it.
I loaded 5.0.0.323 on a friend's Storm last week and it was like a brand new phone. He's absolutely thrilled with it, so this will definitely be a welcome upgrade to Storm owners. Hopefully .328 (the rumored release version) is even better and faster than .323!
Google Chrome released for Mac {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Oct 23rd 2009 7:22PM Oh come on TUAW, how about a tiny bit of research before making a post? First of all, the title of this post is horribly misleading. This is *NOT* a "release" in any way. This isn't even a build meant to be generally available. IT'S FOR DEVELOPERS! This is also the SAME build which was found a few months ago. Come on now TUAW, stop being full of #FAIL.
