Parasite Eve 3 revealed as cell phone title {Joystiq}

May 13th 2007 11:14AM Hello- this is coming out on Japanese cellphones! I have one (Toshiba 904T from Softbank)- it's capable of 3D graphics with a QVGA screen. Some newer ones have VGA (640x480) screens or better and TV output if that's not good enough! Is that good enough for you?

$500 million underwater fiber network to link Asia, America {Engadget}

Apr 29th 2007 5:15AM People in Japan already get personal 100Mbps fiber connections for the same price we pay for FiOS/ADSL in the States. They're fine at that level- they're far ahead of practically every other country.

Apr 29th 2007 5:13AM Can we say "Kohjinsha"? Exactly. Apparently "Kohjinsha" isn't friendly to American tongues- that or they have no experience selling to America. Now how the heck does this thing pack a 100GB hard drive for that price?

Panasonic updates ultraportables with Core 2 Duos {Engadget}

Apr 26th 2007 9:16AM Dammmmmit! I got the older T5 model, 3 days before they updated with this one. Mine only has a Core Solo and Windows XP (but it has longer battery life than the new model) And I cracked the screen too- anyone know where I can get a replacement? Panasonic says they're going to charge $1000 for a replacement, and that's a bit much...

Kohjinsha's SA1F00V adds touchscreen -- still less than $1k {Engadget}

Apr 23rd 2007 7:08AM How do they stuff a 100GB drive in something that small and keep the price below $1000? Man, that's cheap!

Keepin' it real fake, part LIV: yet another iPhone rip {Engadget}

Apr 22nd 2007 11:49AM They didn't even offer COD? Yeah, that's suspicious. But requiring a wire transfer alone isn't suspicious if it's the norm where the person's from.

Hand painted tilt-a-mouse {Engadget}

Apr 22nd 2007 11:37AM Who knows, but at least Maneki Neko is more Chinese than Daruma (the former I see in practically every small to moderately-sized business in Shanghai, the latter I've only seen twice).

Apr 18th 2007 10:05AM Maybe that's how you Americans do it (PayPal- ewww) but not here in China. Look at eBay China- few people use PayPal and bank transfer is the standard method of payment (a standard reference page would be http://stores.ebay.com.cn/iskype/page3.html - notice the bank account numbers and names listed). When the auction ends, the standard procedure is to look at the auction page for the bank account number and name. Then you do an electronic transfer for the funds requested. Then you get your product. You Americans don't trust each other as much, apparently- we still have COD as a shipping method here as well if you want the product first. That cliche- "When in Rome..."

Apr 17th 2007 6:16PM Heh- and up until now no one noticed that it says "dual-SIM dual standby" (you can recieve phone calls on either of the two cards in the phone, no need for a software switch) on the box (granted, it's in Chinese, but still, that's what Google Translate is there for).

Pantech's SKY IM-R200 slider sports LCD keypad {Engadget}

Apr 17th 2007 6:06PM It's a pretty cool phone. At least we might see this phone here in the future; that *was* the point of Helio, wasn't it?
