Dec 16th 2008 11:01AM Actually, unless you've somehow found a way to pay $600 upfront for the phone, you do not own it until the end of the contract. The iPhone 3G is sold at $199 because AT&T subsidise the price of the phone (they pay anything over $199). So, for every phone they sell, theoretically, AT&T are paying $401 for. Until they make that money back from you, the phone is theirs.

Yes, it has high def, but when company provided operators can't operate it to correctly show filmed colours, there's something wrong with the tech. Even if I was bleeding money I wouldn't go anywhere near this product right now.

Most of those things you listed are caused by the network NOT the iPhone. Infact, everything except the laggy keyboard is caused by a crappy network.

Aug 18th 2008 3:01PM IN the end this won't matter anyway. As a filming media, these cameras are flawed. They won't be being adopted as standard anytime soon in the UK. The tech just isn't good enough (the HD res is great, but the fact that browns show up as blues, and that you need ten times more light than a regular camera means they're not practical!..don't even get me started on the fact they make you hire their own techs to run the damn things!).

Aug 6th 2008 4:08PM -YOU know... I don't think they should get rid of people being able to post 'too pricey', purely because it's valuable feedback for the developer!
However! How about adding a 'feedback' section/button? That'd solve the problem.
-Demo versions would be lovely.
- Getting rid of some of the crap on there. I'm temped to make an app of a piece of feces that you can poke and smudge and sell it for 99p/c. An ironic app!
- Apple, test the apps! The review process is meant to weed out the poor apps. Why isn't it?
- New apps section. Maybe even a section where you can browse 'new apps in past x days/week/month'. I'm tired of sifting through the store!
- This is an aesthetic thing, but since Apple (and it's fans) are all about aesthetics, how about getting some nice icons on apps? Some of the icons have no relevance to the app whatsoever.

Jul 1st 2008 4:33PM Just in case you guys are wondering, a hell of a lot of people use that site.
I remember when I first got my iPhone and there was so much crap on forums etc about unlocking phones, I couldn't help but feel the average consumer would google 'unlock iphone' and be so confused, they'd simply return the phone.
My auntie uses that site not because she prefers to pay for free software, but because it's like having a resident geek on tap to let you know when there are updates. It's essentially the only stop she has to make to update her phone.
I know I sound preachy, but it's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I suggest everyone realise that it's as unethical to sell free software (DVD shrink comes to mind) as it is to unlock exclusive devices.

Nov 21st 2007 10:03AM There is nothing to imply this is new ahrdware. T-Mobile stated that if you bought the phone on contract form a certain date, you can get it unlocked for free - it's the same hardware folks! Let's give the hackers some time and then we can all rub in in Apple's dirty face!
I'm usually among the first to defend apple, but their actions here have been completely unfounded.

Nov 19th 2007 9:53AM honestly, I haven't seen any people using them. I will however say that mine garnered so much more interest once the table across from us overheard me saying that I was using it on Orange. I was drilled for how to do that, and where they can buy one. That proved to me that Apple made a huge mistake in making it exclusive here. People in the UK really do not care much for o2. Horrible value for money, horrible customer service. Apple cannot use the same tactics they used in the music market here in the phone market - they could have increased sales tenfold by selling this thing unlocked.
