Jul 10th 2007 9:00PM Look, Verizon is doing well because they spent money in the past (Thank you, Vodafone) and were aggressive in the retention department with their new every two program. Also, let's face it; they have done a wonderful marketing job. The truth is, in the cities where there is dual coverage between T-Mobile & VZW, T-Mobile wins all of the awards 80-90 % of the time. VZW has made a tremendous investment using a very, very old technology and maximized it the most they can but the truth of the matter is, they are severly constrained when it comes to their network capacity in the 800Mhz band. That frequency they use is very different from the 850Mhz that at&t uses on many, many levels. I agree, CDMA used to be where it was at, but contrary "to them sleeping at the wheel", they were investing TONS of money in MANY categories. Sprint actually has a clearer voice and data network than VZW either Sprint has coverage. Remember people, PAC-TEL WIRELESS infrastructure is powering VZW's "ADVANCED" network: that's 20+ years of aging tech. To anyone that disagrees, disputes, look into Qualcomms history a little deeper and into Airtouch's.
