Greenlings: How does weight affect a vehicle's efficiency? {Autoblog Green}

Oct 30th 2009 9:27AM "Based on a gallon of gasoline costing $2.58, this translates to savings of between $0.03-$0.05 a gallon."

You might want to double-check your math there. Losing weight doesn't make gas less expensive, it lets you drive a longer distance with a given amount of gas.

BREAKING: Honda confirms production of CR-Z, Fit Hybrid in 2010 {Autoblog}

Jul 13th 2009 12:17PM gerrrg - The original Insight came with a manual transmission option and still has auto-stop/start. I'd trade mine in for a CRZ assuming it gets 50+ MPG.

Apple confirms presence of proprietary chip in shuffle headphones, licensing fee {Engadget}

Mar 16th 2009 4:31PM Yeah, I'm sure you would be just fine with a proprietary chip in your keyboard or mouse that prevents you from buying a reasonably-priced alternative.

"Oh, your mouse died? For only $75 we'll give you a brand-new one-button mouse!"

Apple confirms presence of proprietary chip in shuffle headphones, licensing fee {Engadget}

Mar 16th 2009 4:28PM As soon as I heard about this idiocy, I went out and bought a Sansa Clip. It's cheaper, has a screen, and can actually use standard headphones. Who ever thought that those things would ever be considered "features"?

The VAIO P's designer spills some secrets {Engadget}

Jan 15th 2009 8:14PM Yeah, I got to see one at a Sony store in Taipei on Monday. The screen is the hotness, but they had it set up with such massive icons that there were only 4 in each column on the desktop. But like Engadget said, it's really not up to the task of running Vista...

NVIDIA G92 and G94 GPUs failing too? {Engadget}

Aug 12th 2008 3:56PM I dunno, I've had a 9600GT for 5 months and it's still going strong. Maybe it's just one bad batch?

Dell Precision and Latitude E series hands-on {Engadget}

Aug 12th 2008 3:51PM That was my first thought too. That's some Freedom From Business As Usual That You Can Believe In!

Motorola prepping "last stand" 8 megapixel phone? {Engadget}

Jun 23rd 2008 5:24PM Exactly. A phone with an 8-megapixel camera is bound to be a niche product. Are they really going to save themselves with a low-volume, high-markup phone? Nokia's N-series is great and all, but is that really where they're making their money?

Freedom Meditech promises glucose-monitoring eye scanner {Engadget}

Jun 19th 2008 4:32PM Finally, the days of tasting my pee to test my glucose levels are over!

Chevy Volt plug-in hybrid priced at $40,000 {Engadget}

Jun 19th 2008 4:24PM Wenke: What kind of range does that guy's modded S10 get? What kind of warranty does it have? What kind of safety testing has he done? There are a lot more issues than just cost the base cost to the consumer.

A new S10 starts at $16,000, which added to $11,000 isn't cheap either. Plus, it probably has a minimal or nonexistent warranty. It also can't carry as many passengers as comfortably and probably has a pretty crappy range without a gasoline engine available to extend it.
