Easy Piano title lets DS Lite users tickle the ivory {Engadget}

Motorola to layoff 3,000 employees, most of 'em in handset division {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 2nd 2008 9:18AM 10 years ago, I would have cared. But how can you feel bad for a group, a division, or even a company that hasn't done anything in 10 years?

By the way, did you hear that they have this new, slim phone called the RAZR?

Yah guys, you can't release the same phone year after year after year that's just a slight variation of the last one. Look at HTC. They try to one up themselves every time they release a phone. You've been putting lipstick on the same old pig for years.

Touch Cruise latest HTC device to fall to Android {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 1st 2008 3:42PM Nope. It's not running an emulator. You run a program called HaRet that reboots your phone and boots the phone into Android. Considering the OS isn't released yet and we are able to make phone calls with it now, I call that an impressive feat...

Once the official OS is released, you'll see people flashing Android ROMS on their tired old HTC devices. It's pretty slick so far.

Motorola prepping "last stand" 8 megapixel phone? {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 23rd 2008 4:14PM Can't we just kill off the company now and save us all the hassle and drama?

Let me run through Motorola's development team idea list since it's origin:

1. Motorola Tough Talker
2. Bag Phones
3. Bag Phones with very insignificant menu and button changes
4. Brick Phone
5. Smaller Brick Phone
6. HUGE Flip Phone (DP-550 if you're curious)
7. Get Smaller flip phones and candybar phones for a few years while they try to fend off Nokia
8. Crap - fast forward about 10 years through this phase
9. RAZR
10. Pink RAZR
11. Other RAZR variants
12. ?
13. um... *MORE* RAZR variants
14. ?
15. cry
16. 8MP camera phone

Motorola cell phone's contact handling sucks. The features and applications are minimal and sucky at best. And you know what, they haven't done anything "NEW" since the RAZR. Sure, theyv'e made them shinier and longer then shorter then wider, but they are just like LAST YEAR'S RAZR but slightly different. It's like offering a station wagon last year and the same station wagon with wood grain stickers on the side this year and scratching your head why nobody wants the NEW one. Next year's station wagon has a raccoon tail on the antenna!

It's sad that the once great Motorola is choking because of the lack of effort, creativity, and understanding of the ever changing markety on their R&D team. Fire them all, hire some young phone nerds and they may have a chance. Obviously, this team has been scraping the bottom of the barrel for a while.

I recently emailed the new CEO about their phone troubles and haven't heard back. Too bad, I'm in Schaumburg all week right across the road from their office. As a side note, I noticed they have plenty of parking. ;)

Openmoko FreeRunner looking good for early July release {Engadget Mobile}

Jun 22nd 2008 8:18PM This thing needs to either come up to speed or go away. Who the hell wants a GPRS only device? Not 3G? Not even EDGE? What good is an open source device that is limited by 10 year old hardware technology?

Ya know, I really wanted this thing until they announced the specs. If they think it's going to compete against Windows Mobile, iPhone, Android, etc..., they're delusional. It's nothing more than a proof of concept, even at this stage.

Stick a fork in it kids, with the exception of a few Linux nerds, this thing is done.

Once they bring it up to yesterday's technology at a minimum (um, ever hear of EDGE?), I'll consider it.

AT&T Tilt delayed a few weeks? {Engadget}

Sep 22nd 2007 10:28AM Um... Someone show me an official announcement from AT&T and I'll let you complain about the phone being delayed.

It has never been officially announced!

Engadget iSwitchers defend their decisions {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 7th 2007 7:37PM What I'd like to see in these posts is who are Mac users and who are XP/Vista PC users.

As a XP/Vista user, I wouldn't *WANT* anything on my device that's Apple related. I don't use iTunes and I see the iPhone as another way Apple is trying to lure me into their den of iTunes evil.

My Windows Mobile devices do everything plus a lot more than the iPhone and while I agree the iPhone is a slick device with a new and slick interface, it doesn't hide the fact it's missing some VERY basic features that all of the phones above have - java, IM, etc.
