MacBook Pro 17-inch unibody review {Engadget}

Mar 5th 2009 5:43AM Macs are generally for the working designers, video editors, photographers (that is their market. Jobs reassured us in 97).. not for people that are just looking for surfing and word publishing (Air).
The only reason I got a MBP was to run FCP. I priced out a Dell Studio 17 to MBP 17 and for the difference in price I can see it in the build quality. I decided to go with the MBP and have not regretted it at all.
Of course I still have my gaming desktop rig running Windows 7 ;)

Cyber Sport's Orbita Mouse is a revolution {Engadget}

Dec 15th 2008 3:45AM this would be awesome as a jog-dial! but since it's endless rotation I hope it's accurate enough for frame by frame and not frustrating to use. In general, revolutionary designs takes some getting used to anyway.

Sony HDR-CX12 AVCHD camcorder captures smiles and scowls for $900 {Engadget}

Jun 19th 2008 3:01AM better than nothing! :p
I believe only the fujinon lenses are mechanical..
and any electronically controlled focus/zoom/iris rings are going to be continuous. can't ask too much from a consumer mini cam..

Sony HDR-CX12 AVCHD camcorder captures smiles and scowls for $900 {Engadget}

Jun 19th 2008 2:18AM true. but thus far I have not seen any camera in this class to beat a panasonic in those tests. one drawback i see here are expensive MSPD cards (for shooting past an hour) 16gb for $150 (or more) as opposed to an SD 16gb at around $60 or less. But I like how they included a focus (and iris?) ring.

Jun 19th 2008 1:52AM I'd prefer the panasonic just because of the best in class OIS
