Nokia X6 video hands-on: proof that capacitive touchscreens are better {Engadget}
Sep 5th 2009 10:42AM I compared my i8910 with the N97 of a friend of mine... some OS-es, slightly larger CAP screen on the i8910 and guess what: I prefer the touch expierience of Nokia's resistive screen. It's more precise and not hyper-sensitive which can be annoying.

If with mini-querty they mean a portrait keyboard that takes 1/4th of the screen that would be amazing. I guess though it'll be more like half the screen.
I've been using my i8910 for a month or so now and I find my ability to accurately click little links without zooming in on webpages getting better and better on it's cap screen (I've now reached the level where the advantages of a resistive screen do not dawn on me anymore hehe).
However, when using the famous Virtualkeyboard app (google for it, and get a cert or a hacked phone if you want to install it) I can't type decently on the 1/4 screen KB app... well it was made for use with a stylus hehe. So I'll wait for them russians to release a next version... or maybe even Samsung will one day give me a portrairt querty :-) :-) :-)

Nokia N97 Mini press photo outed, existence still not official {Engadget}
Aug 26th 2009 3:00AM @Jonathan,
About the scrolling thing... I have i8910 and didn't encounter that. Actually my friend has a N97 and that does have the scrolling inconsequence.... so I guess it's a Nokia thing.
Actually if you give S60V5 a capacitive screen the expierience is actually quite good. I found myself really "working" the N97 haha... (a better resistive screen like the samsung Jet would be quite good allready... that screen is just a pain).
BTW, I get a bit tired of all the Symbian bashing. Yes, it's got an oldfashioned and somewhat crappy interface in S60V5. But anyone who used the OS will recognize that it's quite a fast and stable OS underneath (actually I bought the i8910 coz I'm that kind of power user that isn't really bothered by a sloppy UI... usually put my Windows to the most bare graphic settings available after installation to gain some speed as well). In 2010-2011 Symbian^4 will be released which ditches the old Avelon interface API (basicly not designed for touch but used for it anyway because Symbian was in a hurry) and replaces it by Qt, which should make things up to par again.
How would you change Nokia's N97? {Engadget}
Aug 15th 2009 9:43AM True, a friend of me has a N97 and a phone that almost is a netbook should have more ram, the same amoumt as the N95 8GB but with S60v5 instead of v3 on it is just to little. Another thing which puzzles me is the d-pad, it's quite useless with the touch interface and takes up space that should have accomodated a larger keyboard. One other thing which bothers me with the N97 is it's thickness, it's up quite thick. Ok, enough complaints, time for some praise: since a week I have got the i8910 (had to keep up with my friend hehe). First of, the N97 has got a resistive screen which is often critisised, and indeed working with the touch interface is more fluent with the i8910. However the N97 screen does provide much needed precision in the web browser. On the other hand the excellent on screen typing the i8910 offers wouldn't be possible (writing this post in that way :-) ), but the N97 has a keyboars to do this off-course... All in all I would't change the N97 to a capacitive screen if I were Nokia. Secondly the interface Nokia provides for the homescreen is better than touchwizz which Samsung provides in my opinion.

Nokia N97 review: a tale of two bloggers {Engadget}
Jun 22nd 2009 5:07PM Well, I suppose the Symbian 5th is an immense step compared to 3rd. Keep in mind that it is almost completely backward compatible.
Ok, so if Nokia really would have taken 'the next step' they would have pusher Meamo on smartphones, but remember it's all politics :-P.
Anyhow, for a long time I indeed was intending to buy something running Symbian for my next phone, since I liked my N95. But the allround responsiveness of platforms such as Android and IPhoneOS on the 3GS have changed my mind (after I have compared the them, off-course).
BTW, I've never considere WinMO, my god what a horrible UI and only resistive screens :-O
