Don't shop drunk: Verizon's $350 ETF is now live {Engadget}

Nov 15th 2009 3:35PM @matt Yeah -- though it's always hard to tell how bad / good it is unless you're actually living in one of those other countries. Canada does seem to have some pretty bad telcos though.

Nov 13th 2009 5:26PM @sacapuntas If the community acted in a responsible and respectable manner, your attitude would be right on. Unfortunately, a lot of this community has a tendency to be trollish and downright mean.

It's our job to be accountable to all of our readers, not just a small segment of them, and moderation of comments is one of the ways we're working to make sure the site is useful and enjoyable for everyone.

What we've found is that there's a healthy portion of our readership who can't be trusted with voting editors up or down -- that they abuse the power, and by doing so make it more difficult for us to keep the peace in comments.

Don't worry, this is just the first step in a handful of changes that will make the commenting experience more pleasant to use -- for everyone.

@Wwhat No, the comments aren't soapboxes. It's a place for readers to engage in conversation, not a place for angry people to spout hate, spam, or just generally troll (despite how often that happens). That's the point: we're working to change the tone here.

The Engadget Show: Philippe Starck Q&A bonus round {Engadget}

Nov 13th 2009 4:34PM @sacapuntas Yeah, I doubt I'll be doing that. I get enough public opinion. This isn't a soapbox, it's our site. Also, it's Topolsky.
