Sony announces new PS3 motion controller {Engadget}
Jun 2nd 2009 4:39PM My preference would be for this thing over either Natal or the Wii. The facial recognition is very cool w/the 360, but its rare that anyone but me plays my 360, so no added value there. Full body motion control sounds cool, but all of the uses MS showed are way too gimmicky and things I'd never do. My exact thought when I saw Natal was "sorry, but I need buttons". Imagine trying to play even half your favorite games without buttons. Plus, the Wii has shown gamers don't REALLY want to get up and dance all around to play a game.
"Insider" Sprint doc details the Palm Pre for new users, other boring minutiae {Engadget Mobile}
Apr 27th 2009 3:02PM If this truly does require a SIMPLY Everything plan (and not just an Everything plan...i.e. the $99 plan vs. any data plan), then Sprint is really going to squash their only hope of a comeback-kid winner here. Sprint/Palm have a hard enough time convincing customers to ignore the iPhone hype for the Pre, but to suggest you have to pay $99 minimum is obsurd. Hopefully this is a lost in translation moment and it just means you must have an Everything data plan which in turn was translated to Simply Everything.
First Aliens vs. Predator shots found in Euro mags {Joystiq}
Apr 23rd 2009 2:15PM I liked the multiplayer in the first AVP...there was a horde-like mode where you start at a crashed ship and make your way through a cavern to a little shack in a big crater.
Older Slingboxes won't work with SlingPlayer for iPhone {Engadget}
Apr 2nd 2009 12:45PM Absolute horse$%#& Echostar! Way to take a great company and a great product and royally @% it up! I've been a Sling user since the beginning owning two slingboxes along the way and now neither of them will work? I doubt this will be the end of it as they'll do the same with future releases like the Pre, WM7, etc. I was actually going to buy an iPod Touch to use primarily as a 'sling tv' but forget that. It's only a matter of time before these a-holes start charging a monthly fee to Sling.
Mobile OS shootout: iPhone OS 3.0 enters the fray {Engadget}
Mar 19th 2009 3:38PM Should add Exchange support for Contact Management on the Pre. In fact, one of the items I was most impressed with (as a business user) was that when you search for a contact on the Pre and it doesn't find it in your stored contacts it will automatically search your Exchange Server...something not even windows mobile does.
ZTE completes EV-DO Rev. B VoIP call on CDMA2000 system {Engadget}
Feb 27th 2009 2:01PM So, by that logic no one should ever need to upgrade their OS, install new drivers, download Android cupcake?
Just because things can be improved through better programming, it doesn't mean the prior was bad design.
Audi A4 and A5 get S tronic gearbox abroad, U.S. still waiting {Autoblog}
Feb 6th 2009 9:02PM Very disappointed in this. I'm holding off for the supercharged S5 + DSG, but I would've caved and bought an A5 with DSG if they made it available now.
Palm Pre landing mid-March? {Engadget}
Feb 4th 2009 5:08PM 1) Engrish is good
2) The iPhone didn't do 0-1M in 72 hours...the iPhone 3G did. The original iPhone did it in ~2 1/2 months. Why would the Palm Pre be expected to have the same success as Apple's second iteration? Palm will 'earn' their sales through a great product...not by instructing their minions of mindless sheep to go buy.
It's official: DTV "hard date" moved to June 12 {Engadget}
Feb 4th 2009 4:55PM Obama was the one who initially suggested moving the date back. This whole thing started with him. There's no way he doesn't sign this.
BMW M and Mercedes AMG each see huge sales spike in 2008 {Autoblog}
Feb 4th 2009 1:54PM EXACTLY...when a new "entry" level AMG and the ever popular M3 both hit the dealers in force in the same year, why wouldn't sales be up huge against the prior year? I agree with Toy Yoda...until the credit crisis hit late in the year, these cars (especially the M3) were being financed and leased left and right. Today is likely a far different story.
