Shankman Talks 'Hairspray 2' {Cinematical}
Dec 1st 2008 2:13PM Gotta say i was shocked how good Hairspray ended up. Totally shocked. I hold little hope for a sequel as the last one had 20+ years to be fine-tuned.
Marsden, Travolta, Walken, etc were all really good in the last one.
Plot Details Revealed for 'Beverly Hills Cop 4' {Cinematical}
Dec 1st 2008 2:09PM It needs Brigitte Nielsen again. This will make sure it's a train wreck.
Detroit to DC caravan cancelled {Autoblog}
Nov 30th 2008 3:17AM Wow, does detroit pay people to post messages related to blogs? Seriously, this car is so pro-Detroit I expect them to spontaneously combust Pinto-style.
Yeah, people never forget that kinda stuff. Unsafe At Any Speed, exploding Pintos, diesel Caddies, the Catera, the K-Car, the Aztek, Fiesta, AMC... you can't undo 40 years of bad and expect people to accept suddenly the product is worthwhile. The harm done to these brands is irreparable. They lost a block of customers in the 80s and 90s forever. Those people - Gen X, Gen Y are not coming back. And they're raising kids with the same views. Yes, some Gen X and Gen Y still buy American but not in the numbers of the boomers. GM's lost 25% of its marketshare in 7 years. The trend will continue as the boomers die off.
Sadly, part of it is the past and part of it is the fact that the big 3's products aim for the middle. They can get the middle but to some people, they're not on the radar.
A Glimpse of Gambit, Wolverine's Co-Star {Cinematical}
Nov 30th 2008 3:02AM Bad casting. I love Friday Night Lights and think he's responsible for making Riggins both a bad ass and really sympathetic. But, he's way too young and too pretty boy to be Gambit. There's nothing scruffy about him.
Review: Transporter 3 {Cinematical}
Nov 27th 2008 4:33PM I won't see it but I must say Staham does go outside these roles. He was in the positively awful The Bank Job last year and lest we all forget it was Snatch (playing a witty lead) that got him noticed. Too bad he can't get more work making entertaining films...
Stars in Rewind: Katie Holmes, Thanksgiving, and Estranged Families {Cinematical}
Nov 27th 2008 4:30PM Pieces of April was a darn good movie. Shocked me how amusing and entertaining it ended up.
BMW switching to turbocharged M cars {Autoblog}
Nov 27th 2008 4:11PM We own a couple turbo cars now. I've owned several in the past and a few BMWs with inline 6s too. The high strung engines without turbos are far more fun. They may be down on power and torque but egad are they a blast to wring out. FI engines are easy to tune for more power but they lack the wowee factor. Oh well.
HD Netflix streaming coming to Samsung's BD-P2500 / BD-P2550 Blu-ray players {Engadget}
Nov 27th 2008 12:26AM We set up our Roku up last night too. Ugh what a POS. Terrible mistake.
Bad picture, no content, expensive shipping and no local retailers or real online vendors mean I ended up with an expensive paper-weight that will cost me $10 to send back. I just got bent over by Netflix and I'm super pissed about it. After 8 years with Netflix the incredibly low quality of the Roku is pushing me to reconsider ever supporting them again with anything...including my DVD rental subscription. I'm that pissed off about the shady way the Roku is marketed, sold and supported.
The reviewers saying the Roku image is good or even decent obviously have lousy SD cable.
HD Netflix streaming coming to Samsung's BD-P2500 / BD-P2550 Blu-ray players {Engadget}
Nov 27th 2008 12:22AM We're returning our Roku as the quality on Cox.com is so bad and we never have issues with other online programs. Bummer.
At least the Samsung allows you to see the device in person and order from a local reseller or from a real online vendor like Apple. We got shafted for a $15 shipping fee, plus sales tax on our POS Roku.
LG's BD300 next in line for HD Netflix streaming {Engadget}
Nov 27th 2008 12:15AM Got a roku yesterday. Probably sending it back on Saturday. The quality of Netflix's Watch Instantly is really, really low. And it's so limited otherwise.
Grappling with either a Mac Mini or AppleTV instead as both of those can use Hulu, CBS.com, etc. The Mac Mini and AppleTV also output to 1080p and the Mac Mini allows for Netflix Watch instantly still - should they improve performance or I decide to torture myself again.
