Nokia Quake III gains on-phone server, Bluetooth keyboard and mouse support {Engadget}

Nov 28th 2008 2:53AM What makes you think its a Nokia first?

All WM phones support the bluetooth HID profile, meaning keyboard and mice work already.

Engadget Podcast 119 - 11.21.2008 {Engadget}

Nov 21st 2008 10:14PM While it may be fun to have an easy laugh at WinMo's expense, its extremely disrespectful to the 5.5 million people who CHOSE to buy smartphones based on the OS in Q3 this year.

You are basically calling them fools for having such poor judgment when of course the vast majority chose the devices for the much increased functionality and work capability compared to fashionable devices like Android-based G1 or iPhone 3G. If you want turn by turn navigation you are not going to buy those two toy OS's, are you.

Remember, certainly in US WM phones often cost more than the iPhone - they are not bought accidentally or as a cheaper substitute, but because people felt they could actually get ALOT done on them.

Remember, the Fuze you say does not have a "Real OS" supports multi-tasking for all apps,has built-in NAT for easy tethering, and supports near every bluetooth profile under the sun.

You really need to step off your own biases, or at least get some-one to add some balance to your iPhone-loving rants.

Nov 21st 2008 10:01PM At 22 min 30 sec one of you say:

"The biggest thing that is differentiating these other phones is that people feel they can actually get something done on them."

Thats rather hilarious, considering how popular both the iPhone and Android were well before there was ANY ability to get anything except being entertained done on them.

Just admit it - its all about how pretty the interface os, much less about how efficiently you can actually get anything "done" on them.

Nov 21st 2008 4:28PM You guys lose just lose more and more credibility when you say people chose iPhone over Windows Mobile because they want to chose an OS they feel they can work done on.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with playing Monkeyball and playing iTunes music.

BlackBerry Storm review {Engadget}

Nov 20th 2008 5:54AM I would probably be low ranked instantly for this, but how is this not any more lipstick on a pig than TouchFlo3D on the HTC Touch HD?

Both OS's are bringing Touch navigation to OS's never designed for such usage, and I think the Touch HD does it better.

HP reveals multitouch TouchSmart tx2 convertible tablet {Engadget}

Nov 19th 2008 2:27AM I have the TX2050, and its great. This looks like a nice upgrade. Presumable with a fully capacitive screen (the tx has capacitive plus resistive, so screen quality suffers) outdoor visibility will be much better.

Celio's new REDFLY C7 and C8N answer questions no one is asking {Engadget}

Nov 18th 2008 11:52AM In defense of this gadget, it gives you something most netbooks (at that size) cant - battery life.

If you wanted to compose e-mail or blog for 8 hours straight your netbook is not going to make it, but this device might. if you lose your netbook you may have valuable information on it, even if its just in your browser cache, while losing a redfly would just mean losing the device, but no information.

This device may do very when when attending a conference, where you may bot have much opportunity to recharge, and you need to take notes constantly.

As said before, the niche is small, but in that niche its perfect.

Video: HTC MAX 4G is touched, talked about (in Russian) {Engadget}

Nov 15th 2008 6:02PM It must really hurt to see all the great hardware running Windows Mobile.

Here is a question- Which other mobile OS supports such a wide range of hardware and software? Screens from 240x240 to 800x480. From GPRS to WIMAX, from 56 keys keyboards to no keyboard at all. It goes on and on.

Sure they can install android, but then the video camera wont even work.

HTC Touch HD review roundup {Engadget}

Nov 13th 2008 3:52PM Not half as bad as the Blackberry storm, which I had a play with at Heathrow airport vodafone store. The fonts are just plain ugly, and the menus confusing.

At least for the Touch HD you dont have to dive into Windows Mobile to:
take a picture, view a picture, view your e-mail, change your wallpaper, change your ring tone, check your stocks, launch a program, make a phone call, browse the web, tether the phone, use disk mode, play music, view youtube, switch on wifi, use google maps etc etc.

In fact I cant think of anything which cant be reached via TouchFlo3D
