MacBook Air Rev. B mini-review {Engadget}

Dec 2nd 2008 1:36AM The keyboard quality is the BEST ever on a Mac!. Better than the new MB and MBP because the feel is not as mushy as the new ones. A touch more refined. Oh, did anyone notice, it has a BETTER screen than the MacBook ?. Also, it is not super glossy without the glass.

A well compromised machine and very usable for most people.

Microsoft pays South Koreans $60 million to use its software {Engadget}

Nov 3rd 2008 6:33AM Not surprised considering it is a country that uses more ActiveX technology than any other country. The banking system is solely based on IE and ActiveX. I don't think the folks over there knows about FireFox or Safari ...

New MacBook Air hits the streets, actually capable of this whole "computing" thing {Engadget}

Nov 3rd 2008 6:25AM The Air is for everyone. It is a matter of using it. For people who do not own it, they can say all they wanted. Maybe not quite the price. But it is a heck of a machine doing most things and blows away my PowerBook 1.67.

I have the new MBP and still likes it but the MBA gets more usage just for its battery life and absolute portability. An amazing kit to use!

FireWire feedback from readers and Apple {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Oct 18th 2008 12:43AM I would not be surprised if the FW400 port re-appears in the next iteration of the MB. It might get a $100 hike in price but unless their marketing people holds the absolute power in product development which I see as a problem in most companies these days.

The product positioning is just brilliant (Apple style, of course), most techies dislike such choices. eg losing the FW400 port in MBP. Why ?.

Now the high-end MB will get a lot of cannibalising of the Air. Finally, all the things Air is missing is in the MB, only gained 1.5 lbs which is not a bit deal for most people (yeah, Apple, suck this!). Your marketing makes grave mistakes too. Huh!.

iPhone 2.1 firmware out now {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 13th 2008 7:27AM Updated my spare Pawned 2.01 firmware to V2.1 directly on itunes8 on the Powerbook. Works as it should. ie unlock held, Cydia was gone but no re-activation needed, iTunes8 restored the configs right back which is what it was supposed to do.
This is a Gen1 iPhone as most probably figured out by now. Stable as hell on Safari without crashes. No improvements to signal bars or but I figured Apple is trying to bring more people away from Pawnage with AppStore. It might just work if the stability held for most of the subsystems,especially SMS which was buggy before.

The iPhone 3G on AT&T: we ask the burning questions {Engadget}

Jun 10th 2008 10:11AM @StarB

Yes, its a phone. SOme technical and usability comments here are really good. And I said bring it on. In fact, Hanidxa brough in a lot of points that people can relate to becuase they are in similar situations as him in terms of expectation and daily usage.

I would say bring it on!. Like , if Apple could make the Bluetooth wireless keyboard work with the iPhone, then I would at least have more use in the office. This happens to be the only thing Patrick Norton of Tekzilla wishes of the iPhone software update.
PS: I just wanted to use hardware the way i want. Nit necessarily what the manufacturer intended. A good product actually allows for that. WinMo was certainly the first for BT keyboard support.
PS2: So I happen to use the most advance mobile OS on the planet and its BT implementation is so severely crippled ?. Shame on you Apple!.

The iPhone 3G on AT&T: we ask the burning questions {Engadget}

Jun 10th 2008 10:02AM @Hamidxa, Good that you support WinMo. I for one moved from that platform to PalmOS garnet before I had the crummy Symbian on the SE P990. The iPHone was a god-send but only for about 3 months, then its limits sets in. Reality bites pretty hard on this one. Yes, its limiting, text input not for prolonged use. Still cannot beat that Treo 650 keyboard feel and accuracy. Mind you the Treo can be used one-handed and its practically impossible to do one-handed unless the phone is up to your ear!.
OS, yes, once we look past the OS niceties, the reality of really useful apps are clearly lacking for iPhone. One day, it will catch up, but for now the competition still savour for openess and makes a strong attempt. Competition is really great.

3G iPhone Predictions {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 15th 2008 9:43PM There are only 2 things I wanted from 3G iPhone.

1) Wifi bridge mode that allows its wifi to be an AP to the HSDPA broadband wireless internet connection.
Alternatively, put a mode where id USB connected to a Mac will act as LAN-bridge (it will charge the phone as well, cool).
2) Allow Apple Aluminium wireless BT keyboard to work on it. This was I ditch the HP for good.

Poll: Would you buy a 12" MacBook Pro? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 15th 2008 9:19PM Ditto on the 4:3 aspect ratio. The vertical height is what matters when one does documents and surf the web which is practically 95% of the time. Even reading email has the same requirement. The wide-screen is a marketing thing and video thing. It actually makes the important viewable area SMALLER while making the casing broader. Both are bad. I say 1280X1024 fine resolution for some graphics work. Also add DVI port at the back, just about everyone has moved to LCD displays these days.

Poll: Would you buy a 12" MacBook Pro? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 14th 2008 12:33PM Built the MBP using same casing as the iBook G4 but use aluminium, keep it around 4.2 pounds in weight, 2 GB Ram soldered and single slot to take additional 2GB DDR2 667. Nvidia 8800M Video, pls stop toting around the 8600 range. Add FW800, and eSATA if you dare. I will call it MBP Extreme. 1.8 inch SATA 160GB disk,no CD pls, put a second smaller battery in that space.
