AT&T: 3G MicroCell and its pricing structure are in 'public trial,' Charlotte only for now {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 21st 2009 5:05PM Bad timing AT&T. They just launched A-List. With a list most people won't need this $20 unlimited plan. My plan is too low to qualify for a-list, bu I'd upgrade my plan by $20 to get it before paying $20 for microcell unlimited.

I'll get the device, though. In a NIMBY neighborhood like mine we'll never see a new tower cover this hole.

AT&T's 3G MicroCell site goes live {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 21st 2009 2:53AM LOL. As AT&T says "More bars in YOUR places." Hahaha.
AT&T sucks indoors just as much as everyone else.

Sep 21st 2009 2:51AM Forgot to add:
Unlimited MicroCell plans are:
$9.99 if you have AT&T landline or internet service
Free if you have both
$20 if you have neither.

AT&T's 3G MicroCell site goes live {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 21st 2009 2:46AM Pricing from what I've heard so far:
$150 for the microcell. No contract or commitment required.
Optional: You can optinally get an Unlimited MicroCell plan for $20/month. All calls *placed* on the MircoCell will be free/unlmited, even if you leave the MicroCell and hand off to the cell network.
Supposedly there will be a $100 mail-in rebate for the MicroCell if you sign up for an Unlimited MicroCell plan. No word on any minimum commitment (I don't think there is one.)

More details are being divulged in this forum:

FCC to propose new net neutrality rules disallowing data discrimination {Engadget Mobile}

Sep 18th 2009 11:44PM If wireless is mandated to follow net neutrality, it will be the end of unlimited data plan. Plain and simple. So nothing is for free and this will be the cost.
Comcast's hand wa forced to not discriminate an they ended up doing just that, ending the unlimited data plans.

Wales produces exceptionally graphic, educational film about the dangers of texting while driving {Engadget Mobile}

Aug 17th 2009 3:35AM I have been rear ended twice now due to someone texting or (whatever on their iPhone) while driving. I'm pretty f'n fed up with it (and buying new cars.)

That video was awesome. Reminds me of the time we flipped a car over a few times after hitting ice (I the passenger.) Well done, this is very realistic. I like how the driver was the only on left alive.

iPhone 3GS users report slow or inconsistent Wi-Fi connections {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 8th 2009 6:28PM At work, we have a Netgear router for the whole office. My 3GS barely works with it (essentially does not.) I can use a DLink or Buffalo also in the building just fine. The 3G didn't have this issue on V2.2
I can not use the Netgear router here at all. My downloads stall out and time out.

iPhone 3GS users report slow or inconsistent Wi-Fi connections {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 8th 2009 6:25PM In the video, they guy doesn't know how to run a WiFi Test.
You can NOT get an accurate test when you run them both at the same time off the same AP and DSL connection. They have to be run one at a time.
You won't get accurate results sharing bandwidth with another device also running a speed test!

Twitterrific 2.0: It's real, and it's SPECTACULAR. {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

May 9th 2009 3:16AM Great review. Thanks! I eventually moved on to Tweetie which I like, but since you posted this review I'm going to have to go re-load Twitterific back on my iPhone and give it a shot now.

AT&T retracts new terms of service, apologizes {Engadget}

Apr 3rd 2009 7:28PM Done in error my ***! At least they've relented.
This goes to show how arbitrary so many of those ToS rules are. They're added just because someone in a conference room decides it's a good idea to cover their butts with excessive rules that they have no intention of enforcing and for actions they know that people are going to do anyway (and they're OK with it.)
It's all just CYA

I think the fear of congress going after them for excessive use limits has them thinking twice.
