Vmedia not dead yet, wants to bring optical media to netbooks {Engadget}

Feb 4th 2009 9:02AM Look at the size of those things, not only do they hold under 2GB, but they are also 10-20 times bigger than micro SD cards in every dimension.
Not to mention as long as you're not a dumb dumb and know what codecs you're phone supports/where to get codecs for your netbook, the codec support means nothing but "We limit the type of shit you can put on here!"

No thanks Vmedia, 2001 called and wants their concept back, i'll choose the media standard that is 10 times smaller and has 8-16 times the storage capacity.

Grab the in-game Gears 2 Gold Lancer for free [Update] {Joystiq Xbox}

Jan 29th 2009 8:08AM that's what i can't figure out either.
I figured people bought the LE because of the bonus disc and had a serious hard on for the GOW series. a simple gold skin for an in game object is probably the dumbest thing to get worked up over.
Guess you can't argue with: "There's a sucker born every minute"

Verizon gets official with Network Extender: $249, no monthly fees {Engadget}

Jan 26th 2009 9:00PM Tyson,
"If you get it in your place, it will probably work for your neighbors or do you think it just works on your phone."
You can manage the settings to give priority or only access to authorized phones.

I understand your reasoning, but there are also problems such as mountainous regions. Unless they put a tower on every mountain top near your house, you can still have dead zones with towers very close by.
I agree that cell providers should provide adequate access but a decent signal outside can quickly degrade to unusable when a building is made of brick or other heavy materials, and that's not really Verizon's problem.

At least they don't have the gall to charge monthly fees like sprint, that's a little ridiculous.

Apple on smartphone competition: "if others rip off our intellectual property, we will go after them." {Engadget}

Jan 22nd 2009 11:07AM too bad there's nothing innovative about the "a bunch of icons on a page" interface.
Good luck stopping copycats!

Hirai says 360 lacks longevity, won't top PS3 {Joystiq}

Jan 20th 2009 11:19AM Wait, they are currently still supporting the PS2 aren't they?
Why don't they just start screaming those numbers again?
Instant win!

Hirai says 360 lacks longevity, won't top PS3 {Joystiq}

Jan 20th 2009 11:18AM Sure, if they manage to undercut the 360 in price somehow, they can still topple it.... cause who wouldn't want that cheap of a bluray player that can also play some games!

When the PS2 and XB were battling it out, the PS2 had all the games everyone wanted and a shitload of timed exclusives(minus halo). That doesn't happen anymore, and Sony's console is more expensive. Fix those two problems and Sony could still pull ahead.... in the new 2 years. It's simply not going to happen though, so the Sony execs should stop being such the whiny loser crowd.
