Aptera hires Paul Wilbur as new president and CEO, looking to build new plant {Autoblog Green}

Sep 5th 2008 11:15AM This can only be good news. Even with falling oil prices, someone who invests in one of these cars would be innoculating his bank balance against any sudden predation by the Saudis or by Chavez. Hopefully, with increased production, the cars would be sold in other states and not just in California. I can think of Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Georgia and Florida as fashionable, technology-aware markets that would be natural places for Aptera to market their cars in.

All the very best, guys! Break a leg!

Deutsche Telekom / T-Mobile demands Engadget Mobile discontinue using the color magenta {Engadget Mobile}

Mar 31st 2008 4:57PM This must be a result of T Mobile's top brass not having much work to do. Surely, they need to justify their miserable existence when they cannot sell more connections or offer half decent service!

What a bunch of clowns, behaving like a new Gestapo out to find fault in whoever they regard as a problem!

What does the future hold for supercars with new fuel economy rules? {Autoblog}

Dec 20th 2007 2:37PM Engineers work hardest when they have the most stringent restrictions against them. I don't think the sports car would ever become extinct. If, two plus decades ago, Formula 1 cars could put ut 1000 BHp from 1.5 litre turbocharged engines, with the vastly improved materials, direct injection technology etc it should be possible to build powerful cars with small engines that everyone could be happy with.

I am ging to be a happy optimist on this. There is nothing to worry about. With some of the best engineers in the world working for them, car manufacturers are not quite going to lose sleep over these new regulations.

Whispering Pines, Estate of the Day {Luxist}

Dec 5th 2007 1:34PM Considering that another landmark Illinois property, the Lansdowne Estate at Lake Bluff which was listed for $ 25 million (which Forbes said was a "bargain") sold for $ 16 million to someone who plans to build multiple homes on its grounds, what's to say that this home does not sell for a similar, 40% discount as well? And that it ends up as another "development"? Surely, the economic conditions are bad enough that the worst could be expected. There's more than one development in the area that is either being auctioned off or enroute to being sold at substantially lower prices than were asked for just six months ago.

Lightest Lotus yet: Hot Wheels Lotus concept {Autoblog}

Enter the (C&D) rumormill: Audi R8 diesel coming in '09 {Autoblog}

Jun 4th 2007 2:45PM The V 12 Tdi would be the right choice if they were going to fit a diesel into their top of the line car. It is an engine that has won the world's most prestigious race and proved itself.

I also think the suggestion that Audi have a diesel option across their range is an excellent one. With Honda who were opposed to the idea of diesels just a few years ago enthusiastically endorsing them now, there is no reason VW-Audi should not follow suit.
