DROID and DROID Eris now cash sentient on Verizon {Engadget}
Nov 6th 2009 3:07AM @Christopher: So let me get this straight... you're waiting out the last couple of months of your current contract (which saves you what, twenty or thirty bucks?) but you care how much the ETF is for your next phone? I agree that the ETF is steep, but who cares if you plan to honor the contract you made with the phone company anyway? ETF's are just for people that want to break their word.
If you're considering breaking your word on a contract, why not cancel your CURRENT contract a couple of months early, pay the little ETF fee remaining, and get the Droid now while the new ETF is only $179?
DROID and DROID Eris now cash sentient on Verizon {Engadget}
Nov 6th 2009 2:58AM I couldn't believe it when I saw that... I also just ordered my Droid (NOT Eris) for NINETY-NINE BUCKS through Verizon online with a New Every 2 discount added, no mail-in rebate to hassle with, and free overnight shipping on my order. And yes, if you get one now the Early Termination Fee described in the fine print is still $179.
I had gone to Best Buy and preordered a Droid there (by buying a $50 gift card), but the phone would have been $199 for me there. Verizon online cut the price of the phone in half for me! Verizon online didn't appear to have the media dock in stock though (they did have the car dock). Looks like I'll be spending that Best Buy gift card on docks and other accessories whenever BB gets them in stock... ;)

Jan 13th 2009 12:07AM Typing this on my Samsung NC10... outstanding! Great keyboard, matte screen and finish (white model). Awesome battery life. I leave my power adapter at work, and the NC10 comes home every night with me for hours of surfing and movie watching (thanks, Redbox/DVD Shrink/Daemon Tools Lite!). Usually have over 3 hours of battery life left when I plug in at work the next day...
Would buy again in a heartbeat.

May 31st 2007 11:56AM Bad taste! Somebody died here - as in, permanently, not "Game over, try again". This is not an appropriate starting point for Engadget's admittedly funny "robots will eventually kill us all" running gag.
Please pull the article! It's "entertainment" that Engadget is better off without.
