Nothing new to report on the Touch Diamond's tech here, but wow, look how fun the box is! Of course, we know you're all waiting to see what they stuffed in the wedge-shaped package, and the answer is a charger, headset, USB cable, a manual or two, and the software. The charger appears to be a universal job with a swappable plug for travel, and the headset a typical example of an HTC pack-in -- albeit with a dash of fun and angular design. Fortunately, Sprint and HTC both seem relatively committed to keeping the flagship Windows Mobile model up to date, and we now have an official beta firmware floating around that adds Sprint TV and the real prize, Windows Mobile 6.1. Naturally, due caution must be observed when dealing with prerelease wares, but let's be honest, Mogul owners: every single one of you are going to give this a shot, now aren't you?

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

HTC Touch Diamond soft keyboard comes to other WinMo phones

Filed under: Software, HTC, Windows Mobile

We weren't too thrilled with the Touch Diamond's resistive touchscreen when we got a chance to play with HTC's new hotness, but if you're envious of that updated soft keyboard, you're in luck: the Diamond's ROMs have already been pulled apart and the .cab files are just a click away. Installation is said to be slow and you'll have to jump through some hoops to switch the default language from Italian, but things will eventually work out for you -- although we doubt anyone's going to be nearly as impressed as if you had a real Touch Diamond.

[Via MobilitySite]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Nilay Patel

HTC Touch Diamond vs. iPhone, fight!

Our brethren over at Engadget Chinese had the chance to size-up HTC's new Windows Mobile 6.1 Touch Diamond with Apple's iPhone this morning in Taiwan. We're already big fans of the Touch Diamond's sleek black aesthetic, and it looks like the design language is going to carry over to the official accessories, like the dock. Yeah, it's just a dock with a USB connector and a headphone jack so you can listen to music while charging / syncing your phone, but it's definitely one of the slickest form factors we've seen -- too bad it's listed at £25 ($49).

[Via Tracy and Matt's Blog]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Nilay Patel

New Windows Mobile peeped in Microsoft Live Mesh video?

Filed under: Handsets, Software, HTC, Windows Mobile

Granted this only gives us a glimpse -- by glimpse we mean only a few seconds -- of what could be a new version of Windows Mobile 7 running HTC Touch Slide handset. The media sharing magic of Live Mesh is what's at the center of this vid, from Mac, to Windows, to mobile, your pics and content will wander -- but the quick glimpse of the sliding pane on the home screen did make us grin a little bit. You can find the video after the break and if you don't want to sit through the whole affair, just zip to about the 30 second mark and you'll be home.

This is a fun twist, instead of a mobile provider adding home phone service to its roster, British Telecom, a UK wireline provider is adding wireless service called Broadband Anywhere with a couple handsets called BT ToGO. The two handsets on offer are HTC's S710 and the S620 offering WiFi access when available and wireless when not, the home service is included with a BT WiFi set and router called the. The handsets are being bundled with "Broadband Anywhere" and includes DSL at home, Openzone WiFi and BT FON access with a sticker price of anywhere from £23.99 to £53.99 (roughly $47 and $105) a month. We're thinking $47 isn't too terrible a price to pay as long as they've got you properly covered, but $105 might be hard to swallow if the plans are meager. More specifics on the plans as soon as we have it.

Ah -- we'd know that backside anywhere. If you were super-duper stoked about the forthcoming HTC Touch Diamond, you might want to sit down. Apparently, High Tech Computer Corp. has already sent this beauty over to the FCC, where a room is currently filled with men in white coats meticulously judging the above label placement. Regardless, this might bode well for a US release of the company's latest and greatest... don't you think? While you ponder that brainteaser, feel free to truck over to the FCC's site and get all the information you could possibly want about the Diamond's RF exposure.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Joshua Topolsky

HTC Touch Diamond hands-on

Filed under: Handsets, Features, HTC, Windows Mobile, GSM, EDGE, HSDPA, UMTS

We had a little thumb-print orgy with the new HTC Touch Diamond immediately following its launch. Light and small, the Touch Diamond comes off as a unit with promise. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a while to get our hands on this via a US carrier, but Orange users in the UK will no doubt be pretty happy with this new handset, the first of its kind to use Windows Mobile 6.1.

Check out the gallery below, complete with comments and interface walk-through. A couple vids after the break, too!

Gallery: HTC Touch Diamond hands-on

Continue reading HTC Touch Diamond hands-on

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Joshua Fruhlinger

HTC Touch Diamond all gussied up and official

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, Windows Mobile, GSM, EDGE, HSDPA, UMTS

If you absolutely, positively haven't seen enough of HTC's newest iteration of its Advantage, the X7510, then boy do we have a treat for you. After the break, you'll find a charming video of one of these odd devices being unboxed. We know HTC's got a big announcement coming this Tuesday, and while we can't say for sure it's going to the Touch Diamond, if today's leaked images and specs are at all accurate we think they might have something big on their hands. Check it out:

2.8-inch VGA display

WinMo 6.1 Pro

WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0

eGPS, FM tuner

Quad-band HSDPA 7.2

4GB internal flash, microSD slot

528MHz CPU

3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus

10.7mm (0.47-inches) thick

Supposedly also features an orientation sensor / accelerometer

Whether it's got a QWERTY keyboard could still be up for grabs, especially since that configuration might belong to the CDMA-based Raphael. Still, the it makes sense HTC wouldn't want the XPERIA X1 they made for Sony Ericsson to be their best engineered device on the market for long. We'll be watching this one closely.

[Thanks, Kevin]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Ryan Block

HTC Touch Cruise becoming "Touch Find" for Movistar?

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, movistar, O2, GSM, EDGE, HSDPA, UMTS

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in one of those meetings once in a while where product names get hammered out. Seriously, what possessed Movistar to latch on to "Touch Find" for this one? Was HTC's own name, Touch Cruise, not good enough for 'em? Or heck, how about the Xda Orbit 2 (pictured) moniker used by Movistar's own O2 subsidiary? Alas, yeah, the latest rumor here is that the Touch Cruise will be christened Touch Find for Movistar's networks, featuring 3.6Mbps HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, and a 3 megapixel cam. We don't know for certain whether the Touch Find will adopt the O2's same pebble-esque case or the Touch Cruise's harder lines, but it certainly seems like it'd make more sense to be consistent within the company ranks and go Xda Orbit 2-style. Then again, the name change itself doesn't seem to make much sense, so who knows?

[Via Unwired View]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

HTC Diamond screen shots floating around?

Filed under: Handsets, Software, HTC, Windows Mobile

As we hurl headlong toward HTC's May 6 date with destiny, the Diamond is looking more and more like the headlining act for the unveiling -- but what's it gonna look like when they turn it on? Screen shots of a purported Diamond have turned up on Chinese site PDAFans, and if they turn out to be legit, the answer is "pretty much like any other Windows Mobile 6.1 device." One of the Diamond's alleged claims to fame is a revamped TouchFLO interface, though we're not really seeing a heck of a lot of that here; just a whole lotta plain-vanilla WinMo that has us thinking that this is either fake or an early prototype with an particularly barren build loaded. Doesn't really matter how hot the hardware ends up being -- unless HTC manages to impress with the software visuals, we suspect there are going to be a lot of disappointed people when this one starts shipping.

[Via PDAPhoneHome, thanks Joseph G.]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

HTC confirms Diamond with VGA touchscreen launch next month?

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, O2, Windows Mobile
We already knew it was coming, now HTC has seemingly confirmed that its Diamond handset will be announced next month presumably at the May 6th event. The wording of the Taipei Times article (which we assume was translated from Chinese) leaves HTC's comments open to interpretation. Speaking to a group of investors, HTC's financial executive Cheng Hui-ming, said that revenues will grow by 20% this year thanks to the launch of a new Touch phone next month. Referring to the HTC Diamond by name, he then calls the device "the most important product for HTC this year." Interesting considering that HTC is widely expected to launch the first Android handset -- dubbed Dream -- before the end of the year. Regardless, the 3G Diamond with Windows Mobile 6.1 running beneath a large, glossy, VGA touchscreen display with WiFi and 3 megapixel camera is certainly going to attract a lot interest from us and our wallets.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Thomas Ricker

Alltel Touch gets firmware update, EV-DO Rev. Make us proud, Alltel! The number five carrier's really been going all-out as of late, doing an impressive job of keeping its offerings in line with the big boys -- and in some cases, outdoing 'em with hot exclusives like the Glimmer. Once again, they've gotten the jump on their larger, heavier competition by becoming the first carrier to release a firmware upgrade for the Vogue (the Alltel Touch, in this case) that ups the radio to EV-DO Rev. A speeds. Speedy uploads aside, the upgrade includes some Bluetooth fixes and adds the ability to receive video messages. Sprint, Verizon -- your move.

[Via phoneArena]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

HTC's Raphael and Diamond: coming to Sprint and looking good

Filed under: Handsets, Features, HTC, Sprint, Windows Mobile, EV-DO, CDMA

No one really knows whether HTC's May 6 gathering will usher in the age of Android (our guess is still "no"), but let's look a little beyond that, shall we? We've just laid eyes on a handful of documents detailing HTC's efforts to ready the Diamond and Raphael models -- already known to be valid HTC codenames -- for Sprint later this year, and things are definitely looking up in the post-Touch world. The Diamond turns out to be the successor to that very device, lacking a physical keyboard and relying almost exclusively on a large, glossy touchscreen for user input; the Raphael meanwhile (pictured) features a full QWERTY deal and is destined to replace the Mogul. The paperwork's pretty blurry, but it appears that both Windows Mobile devices will feature WiFi, 3 megapixel cameras, and -- get this -- VGA displays. Goodness! The Raphael is currently lined up to be the first out of the gate, hitting the streets in September if everything goes well, with the Diamond following on in November. Surprised that these devices are CDMA-based and Sprint bound? Us too, we admit -- but we'd be shocked if there weren't GSM twins of both of these hotties getting cooked in the lab at the same time.

[Thanks, anonymous tipster]

Gallery: HTC's Raphael and Diamond: coming to Sprint and looking good

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

HTC reveals US marketing push

Marketing its wares straight to consumers is old hat for HTC in the Old World, but stateside? Not so much. That's not to say the HTC name is a total unknown in North America; there's been the odd Advantage here and Shift there, but by and large, we yanks know the Taiwanese firm better for its relatively anonymous efforts in the likes of the AT&T Tilt, Verizon XV6900, Sprint Touch, and countless other carrier-branded devices. That's about to change, though, with a full-court press of TV, print, outdoor, and online advertising targeted squarely at the US market launching this week. The company's first ad in the campaign is posted to YouTube -- no new products here, sadly, but it's an encouraging sign to see that one of the world's most prolific ODMs and smartphone manufacturers now thinks that the American market is mature enough to be dealt with directly. The announcement of the US-spec Touch Dual was a good start, and now, we look forward to seeing a whole heck of a lot more where that came from. Why wait for the Dream when you can get Android all up in your HTC piece today? Numerous efforts over on xda-developers have yielded a high success rate in getting Google's still-young platform working (although the definition of "working" can vary from device to device) on a variety of recent and popular HTC models, so if you dig your hardware but you're ready to give Windows Mobile the boot -- and you like to live on the bleeding edge between functionality and brickage -- give it a shot. Apparently, HTC is having a little trouble keeping people with cameras out of its offices, as evidenced by this totally great spy shot of a what appears to be a bunch of (or two) new phones. We're familiar with quite of few of these devices, like the TyTn II, Touch Cruise, and Touch you see in the upper row, but things get a little stickier down below. Save for that P3470 that's second from left, we have no clue what those slick looking square numbers are. The far left model and the far right might be the same device, but its hard to tell. It also looks like all the devices in this picture are using Windows Mobile, but we're holding out hope that maybe the model on the far right boots Android... and soon.

[Via IntoMobile]

Update: So we figure that one of the two on the right is likely the MDA compact IV for T-Mobile, although that still doesn't explain the generous QWERTY board depicted over there on the left. Can't you just feel the excitement building? Okay, so we know of at least two HTC devices codenamed "Neon" that the friendly bureaucrats up in the FCC have been forced to go through with a fine-tooth comb. Now we have a third -- the descriptively-named NEON300 -- and this might be the money version. As we've pointed out before, the Neon series appears to represent a line of Touches with different guts for different carriers and locales, and the NEON300 possesses something that's music to the ears of the yanks in the audience: HSDPA on the 850 and 1900MHz bands. Along with the recently-announced US Touch Dual, this should be quite a gem in, say, AT&T's lineup -- and with Sprint and Verizon both rocking the same device, can they really afford to turn the other cheek?

Update: Pictures of the unit being poked and prodded can be found deep within the test documentation, and sadly, it turns out this is nothing more than the US Touch Dual after all. But come on HTC, seriously, you know you want to make a straight-up Touch with North American HSDPA, too. It seems like having designers gussy up your handsets and selling them to the highest bidder is a fairly successful way to turn a profit for your charity of choice, and HTC's the latest to get in on the action -- in Singapore, anyway. The company has hooked up with fashion guru Nic Wong to design four unique, one-of-a-kind Touches that are being auctioned on eBay's Singapore outpost, and while the spec sheet doesn't get any sort of a boost over the original, you definitely won't be seeing another Touch quite like yours as you travel around town. All proceeds go to the Children's Cancer Foundation -- a worthy cause, if we do say so ourselves -- and bidding ends on the 19th, so have a shot at winning your own piece of mobile art if you happen to be in the area.

[Via Slashphone and Pocket PC Thoughts]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

HTC throwing UK bash on May 6 -- but what does it mean?

So HTC's holding down London on Tuesday, the 6th of May for some sort of product reveal that's presently cloaked in mystery. The invitation invites us to "witness the next wave of HTC Innovation," so it's gotta be good, right? One possibility is an unveiling of the Dream, the rumored device that hopes to usher in the Age of Android with a bang; we're not so sure, though, since the first production devices to run Google's everything-killer platform aren't expected until the second half and there's still plenty of work left to do on the software side. Another plausible launch would be the spiritual successor to the Touch, a device that may be either the Diamond or the Raphael; the 3G-less Touch is getting a little long in the tooth, after all, having been outdone in the spec sheet by its keyboarded cousins. We're guessing HTC's going to be staying pretty tight-lipped about this one right up until zero day, so let the speculation run wild in the meantime.

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

Verizon XV6900 available April 16

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, Verizon Wireless, Windows Mobile, EV-DO, CDMA

We've just received word that the blindingly white XV6900, Verizon's rendition of the HTC Touch theme, will be available online on April 16 with in-store stock following on come April 30. That's a considerably healthier turnaround time from first rumor to availability than the XV6800, we've got to say -- and hopefully, it's a trend Verizon (and all carriers, for that matter) will be able to stick to. Contract-signers will be able to get their TouchFLO on for a nominal fee of $249.99 after $50 rebate.

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

Keepin' it real fake, part CXVI: Tilt gets shamelessly aped

As the bar for really, truly ripping another product off gets ratcheted up, leave it to Awang to make sure it keeps pace. The A9000 handset makes no attempt to veil itself from being seen as the impostor that it truly is, featuring the same QWERTY keypad, general design and tilt-ability as the long-established AT&T Tilt. Judging by the looks of things, those not ashamed with carrying around a Class-A wannabe will find Windows Mobile ("or similar") under the hood, a T-Flash expansion slot, built-in camera and a lovely stylus for good measure. A quick visit to HTC's CTIA outpost yielded dividends in the form of two little gems announced this week: the American version of the HTC Touch Dual and the Verizon XV6900, a bleached Touch with a Verizon logo slapped in place of the Sprint one. Both of these phones are rehashes of existing products, and there's really very little to say about them -- other than a heartfelt "yippee," we suppose, seeing how they're both intended for 3G in North American markets. We really enjoyed the appearance of the XV6900 -- white's definitely a color that suits it well, and while the bright shell's probably going to keep it out of the office, we think Verizon might have a consumer-market smartphone winner on its hands. You know the drill: click on!

Gallery: Eyes-on with the Verizon XV6900 and HTC Touch Dual

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

HTC actually readying Diamond / Raphael smartphones?

Rumors of a so-called HTC Diamond have been circulating since last year, but it seems legitimate evidence is beginning to mount in favor of the firm actually releasing one. According to placeholders on the Bluetooth SIG's official website, HTC has a Diamond and Raphael "PDA Phone" queued for release in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. Unfortunately, this database isn't nearly as telling as the one maintained by the FCC, so we're at a loss when it comes to specifications, pictures and practically anything worth noting. One thing's for sure, though: the wait for more details just got a lot shorter.

[Via Cellpassion]

Read - HTC Diamond
Read - HTC Raphael

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Darren Murph

HTC's WinMo 6.1 "Manilla" interface gets pictured

Filed under: Software, HTC, Windows Mobile

No sooner does Microsoft make Windows Mobile 6.1 really official than we see a slew of screenshots to put that build to shame. The so-called "Manilla" is touted as a customized interface that lies on top of the standard WinMo 6.1 Professional OS, and what you see above purportedly came from a "cooked X7150 ROM with the Manilla aspect thrown in from an unreleased VGA device HTC is working on." For what it's worth, it's also noted that Manilla and TouchFLO 2.0 aren't one in the same, and just in case you aren't totally in love already, tap that read link to witness a gallery full of eye candy.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Darren Murph

HTC's Touch Dual makes US debut at CTIA

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, Windows Mobile, GSM, HSDPA

Brace yourself, US-based Touch Dual lovers -- the handset that your Japanese / European friends have been taunting you with for months is finally making the trip stateside. Slated to launch "later this quarter" (at Best Buy initially, of all places), the US Touch Dual will come rocking Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, TouchFLO, Office Mobile, Live HTC Home, a 2-megapixel camera, quad-band GSM support and HSDPA connectivity. Sadly, HTC didn't give us the pleasure of knowing a price, but we'll be keeping an ear to the ground for more exact details surrounding the release.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Darren Murph

Verizon surprises no one with XV6900, Motorola Q9c, and LG enV(2)

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, LG, Motorola, Verizon Wireless, Windows Mobile, EV-DO, CDMA

Well, here are three that we didn't see coming or anything -- Verizon has officially announced the Motorola Q9c, LG enV(2), and HTC-sourced XV6900 today, all for April availability. The Moto Q9c is a more business-savvy version of the consumer-focused Q9m that was launched on Verizon late last year, with the carrier playing up the new model's VZ Navigator support, Windows Mobile 6 Standard load (yippee?), and -- unfortunately for those whose companies distrust photography -- a 1.3 megapixel camera. This one will launch for $249.99 after rebate on a two-year plan.

Next up we have the enV(2) -- a phone we mistakenly identified previously as the enV2 because we just never could've seen those bonus parenthesis coming -- which succeeds the wildly popular enV and injects a fresh dose of industrial design. Features include a 2 megapixel cam, 2.4 inch internal display accompanied by a smaller screen up front that's just big enough for doing calling duty, microSD slot, and the flip-up QWERTY keyboard the enV series is famous for. It'll run $129.99 after rebate on contract when it launches next month.

Finally, the XV6900 brings Verizon in line with Sprint's Touch, though in a far paler shade. It features the full host of Windows Mobile 6 Professional goodies alongside a 2 megapixel camera, microSD slot, 256MB of ROM, 128MB of RAM, Bluetooth, and HTC's TouchFLO interface. As handsets go, the Motorola Q9c is planned for April along with the TouchFLO-powered XV6900, LG enV2, and the CDMA rendition of the BlackBerry Curve (so much for exclusivity clauses on this one, it seems), while the Samsung Glyde is currently slated for late April or early May. Centro fans will be happy to hear that the diminutive Garnet phone will finally hit Verizon following Sprint and AT&T launches in the tail end of May or the beginning of June, followed shortly by the Nokia 6205, which apparently isn't either the 2505 or 7205 unless one of those flips have been renumbered.

As technology goes, Verizon looks to launch EV-DO Rev. A-based push-to-talk services -- Sprint folks will know this as Qualcomm's QChat -- toward the end of May. We've also caught wind of something called "Verizon Hub," which we're told will go head-to-head with T-Mobile's HotSpot@Home service. It's not known whether this'll be a WiFi setup (a la HotSpot@Home) or adopt Sprint's CDMA femtocell strategy, but seeing how Verizon and Sprint seem to be endlessly engaged in a game of cat and mouse, we wouldn't be surprised to see 'em go with femtocells. We don't have a date on Hub just yet, but it's targeting the second half of the year at the earliest.

Update: Commenters are noting that Verizon's do-all FiOS phone bares the "Verizon Hub" name, though it doesn't go head-to-head with HotSpot@Home -- and the Hub we're referring to is showing up on Verizon Wireless roadmaps. Weird. We'll keep a close eye on this one.

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional running on an HTC StarTrek

Filed under: Handsets, Software, HTC, Windows Mobile

It seemed pretty impressive when a user managed to get Windows Mobile 6 Standard up and running on a busted old HTC StarTrek -- but WM Professional 6.1 on that badboy? You had us at hello. A member of the xda-dvelopers forum named Erofich has managed to hack together an install of the touchscreen-only mobile OS for the decidedly non-touchscreen flip phone. The configuration includes a number of workarounds for using the keypad as opposed to a finger or stylus, and it looks like there aren't a ton of issues right now. We're pretty sure that this isn't the speediest or most robust implementation of the software, but it's an admirable feat nonetheless. We doff our caps to you, sir.

[Thanks, maflow]

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Joshua Topolsky

HTC's Dream again rumored to be first Android phone

We've been hearing about the HTC Dream (likely not pictured above) for what seems like an eternity on a tech timeline. Now "a person close to the situation" tells InfoWorld that the Dream is indeed HTC's Android phone. Remember, HTC is widely expected to be the first from the gate with a retail phone featuring Google's open source OS. The Dream is said to measure 3-inches wide by 5-inches long and feature a full QWERTY keypad that "either slides out or swivels." Right, exactly what Forbes told us 5 months ago. Still, it's always a good sign when the rumor mongers align. Whatever happens, we certainly expect the first Android phone to be exceptionally spec'd as a showcase of the OS' power and possibilities to come.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Thomas Ricker

HTC patent guarantees there'll be no way to "close" your phone

There was a time when data was slow, screens where monochrome, and keypads were simple -- and that's the way we liked it. Now you've got QWERTY clamshells, virtual keyboards, e-ink, and everything in between, yet somehow, that's just not enough for HTC's wild tastes. The Windows Mobile champion (and Android champion-in-waiting) has recently filed a patent application for a screen attached to a keypad by a set of diagonal tracks, which allow it to move between a full QWERTY form factor and... shall we call it a "permanently-deployed slider." Interesting, we suppose, but probably a little awkward in the pocket and in the hand.

[Via Unwired View]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Chris Ziegler

Google: Android will outsell iPhone, we still love ya Steve

Filed under: Handsets, HTC, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Apple
Watching Google tiptoe around its relationship with Apple as it rolls out Android is one of the most enjoyable aspects of watching the industry these days. This is perfectly illustrated in the words of Rich Miner, group manager for Google's mobile platforms, who said, "there's a much larger potential market on Android than for the iPhone." A truthful statement in all likelihood assuming that the OS is robust upon its global release later this year and available on handsets from HTC, Samsung, Motorola, and LG as expected. Miner then took a few shots at the iPhone SDK saying, "There are things I saw people doing with the first version of the Android SDK that it seems like you can't do with the iPhone at least at the moment." He then noted that the SDK had been downloaded 750,000 times (compared to Apple's 100k in 4 days) as of February. Naturally, he then applied a thick, brown coat of public relations salve saying, "[If I were a developer] I'd certainly be looking at the iPhone, and if you believe there will be lots of Android phones out there, as we do, I'd be developing for both platforms." Availability is set for now, so if you've been waiting for a new bit of QWERTY Windows Mobile hardware, fill your boots, operators are standing by.

[Via CoolSmartPhone]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Sean Cooper

HTC Advantage X7510 now up for pre-order

HTC still hasn't gotten official with the exact price or release date for its HTC Advantage X7510 handheld, but that hasn't stopped a number of retailers from putting the device up for pre-order, and at quite a range of prices to boot. As Pocketables points out, UK retailers Clove Technology and eXpansys each have the X7510 up for £595 and £700, respectively, although neither are making any promises about when it'll ship. US retailers are also offering the device at similarly varied prices, ranging from $800 at GearTrade to $1,300 at Smart Mobile Gadgets and On The Go Solutions (Google Product Search even turns one retailer by the name of PrestoMart listing it at $550, although that link unsurprisingly goes to a blank product page). For its part, Pocketables speculates that the $800 price tag is closest to the official one (which probably isn't too far off base), but we'll just have to wait for HTC to give us the final word on that.
