Google Voice apps now live on Android and BlackBerry, iPhone en route
There have been pretty decent unofficial hacks to get Google Voice fully functional on a variety of mobile devices for a while now, but Google's finally taking the next logical step in its world domination strategy by releasing totally 100-percent legit first-party apps for a couple key platforms today -- BlackBerry and, of course, its own Android. As you might expect, the app lets you make calls and send texts through your Google Voice number (great for taking advantage of its mega-low international rates) and integrates with the service's excellent visual voicemail and voice transcription service. iPhone is on the way, but for now, the BlackBerry build should be hitting a pretty wide, interested demographic -- now about those Google Voice invites, eh?

The ultimate sign of pompousness. Give people a busy signal from my Blackberry, then send them an email. I can't wait.

Tried installing on my Storm, initially it worked. I closed it and tried to log back in and is totally borked. Displays only in portrait mode with blue border. I can type in my email but cant get to password feild. Maybe I am doing something wrong? No love in google help forum yet either.

Got mine Friday. Put my request in year or more ago when GC was bought by Google. Was (and am still waiting for number port).

This is a great thing. Takes some of the power away from the carriers. This is the best thing since Interactive Voice Call Manager for Symbian S60 3rd Edition!! I hope politics doesn't keep this away from Symbian OS, because I'd love to try it.

This article is 3 years old, but shows a map (of interpreted data) of who owns the backbone to the Internet. Inaccuracies should be forgiven as I don't know the first thing about making a map like this.
"Who owns the Internet? We have a map that shows you."

And his follow up which raises many good questions but doesn't answer them : )

Got my invite on the 3rd but, my other G1 on my account didn't get an invite...odd.
Been using YouMail for sometime now will compare and contrast to see if Google will more than just a unified number.
Very easy setup and it seems to work fine, so far it looks quite impressive.

Actually, scratch that. Google needs to take their official app that hardly anyone can use and cram it. Open GVoice to the public!!
SNOT FAIR!

I first applied for an invite last year when it was still grandcentral. Got my invite last week.

Anyone having trouble with this on a BlackBerry device? I can playback my voicemail just fine using the GVoice mobile app, but I can't seem to dial/make a call using the app. I am hooked up to a large BlackBerry Enterprise Server / Exchange Server ... could their security settings some how be blocking me from making calls using this app?
The app dials an "access number" but I never get a rining tone or anything.

I got a invite formy iPhone today.

Hello. I have created an application called Google Voice Dialer for Windows Mobile that adds support for Google Voice to the device’s native contact list. The people you call see your Google Voice number. No data plan is required even! Check it out for yourself at http://www.brianhama.com/GVoiceDialer.aspx. Thanks.
