T-Mobile myTouch 3G's visual voicemail detailed on video
When we spoke to T-Mobile at the myTouch 3G launch last week, there was some doubt as to whether its Android-based visual voicemail app would be ready in time for the new model's launch -- but from a handful of videos TmoNews has managed to uncover, it's certainly looking ready for action. A series of three quick instructional videos guides users through the oh-so-simple tasks of listening to individual voicemails, saving them to a memory card (an interesting trick), and listening to them in any order you like; if you think those tasks sound too boring and obvious to really require video instruction, you're kinda right -- but we can see how users completely new to the concept of visual voicemail would benefit from the quick tutorial. At any rate, it's good to see that the software's looking good, it takes advantage of Android's standard notification mechanism, and we're hopeful it could be ready by the time the first units start hitting customers' hands at the tail end of the month.

You've never seen a french manicure?
PEZOLLA @ Jul 14th 2009 1:33PM
That's not a French manicure - that's a French Manure.
Bill @ Jul 14th 2009 1:50PM
yeah for french manicure, that was downright awful.....

Hahaha that's the first thing that I thought. Horrible placement of those Lee press-on nails! And the hand is kind of man-ish to boot! Pony up the cash HTC/T-Mo and get some decent hand models!

And?? So what... PhoneFusion has had Visual Voicemail available for Android for some time now... and from the image above... a MUCH nicer application.
Shilo @ Jul 14th 2009 12:20PM
will this be available for the g1?
Doax @ Jul 14th 2009 2:11PM
Dude thats my question too. Are the old G1 users like me included into the visual voicemail catch up? Cus the Instinct S30 I owned had visual voicemail and I'd look at my G1 and go, "wtf, if you're such a SMARTphone why dont you have this?!"
Who? @ Jul 14th 2009 1:23PM
Who designed this phone? The buttons are disgusting.
Ed @ Jul 14th 2009 1:24PM
Looks slick :P

Johnny come lately? Visual voice mail was available on first generation iPhone. Two years late!
mike k. @ Jul 15th 2009 9:46AM
So yeah Iphone 3GS just gets a compass, voice control, built in video, cut and paste, and autofocus, and that's revolutionary? Except for the fact that the G1 had most of those things last year... Not saying the G1 or the Magic is better or worse or whatever, but blindly mocking something for a feature that comes out after some other product's version of it is idiotic...

Try HulloMail. It's a better spec voicemail app and it's free from the Android Market for all Android users.

Is that similar to Phusion Voice mail.. I tried that and it horribly messed up my text and voice mail system. I guess I just don't like the idea of my voice mail being totally forwarded to an outside vendor. At least when I got that I was missing a million calls because Phusion Voice mail was forwarding things to voice mail too quickly. I'd be willing to try HulloMail if you haven't experienced any sorts of issues with it pre-empting calls to voice mail though...
