Video: New Palm Pre ad takes serene approach, just goes with the flow
When we last saw this fair-faced Pre spokesperson, she was sitting on a rock in an otherwise open field playing choreographer to a sea of robed individuals encircling her. This latest ad takes a decidedly simpler approach reminiscent of the vibe set in the Meet the Pre series, though we can't say for sure her if her followers aren't just waiting off-camera for the next directive. Also, interesting choice of onomatopoeia for sliding through the webOS cards, we imagine there's a certain, Redmond-based company out there delighted by the subtle (and probably unintentional) reference. See the ad for yourself after the break -- and in case you're wondering, that song that'll be stuck in your head all day is "Doot Doot" by Freur.

I wish they'd spend less money on obtuse marketing and just get a GSM device out...
R@pHyE07 @ Jul 13th 2009 5:23PM
Kinda...weird.
snworf @ Jul 13th 2009 5:25PM
I like how she says 'bing' 3 times towards the end :) Subliminal plugging of Microsoft's new search tool...?

Resistance is futile. The Borg Queen says so.

Horrible.

Worst phone commercial Ive ever seen
I have a Pre and that commercial just makes me sick!!!
come on Palm!! enough with the gay stuff... or leave it to sprint to make the commercials
the facebook commercial is pretty cool
breon @ Jul 13th 2009 6:07PM
Agreed, that commercial is horrible. The Palm Pre is one of the top phones on the market but that commercial just makes me ashamed of such a great device.
carcomptoy @ Jul 13th 2009 6:24PM
Wow. That was seriously weird--like something out of the 80s. And "bing"?? Palm, just stop while you're ahead--or fall back behind, anyway.
will54880 @ Jul 13th 2009 6:42PM
Bad commercial. She is creepy.
ace587 @ Jul 13th 2009 6:54PM
i like the Sprint commercials with the Pre at the end
Kent Pribbernow @ Jul 13th 2009 6:58PM
This looks more like an ad for a feminine hygiene product than a smartphone. "Feel fresh as a summer breeze, with Pre"
Kevin @ Jul 13th 2009 7:00PM
+1, you beat me to it! Exactly what I was thinking with all the flow talk...
Who? @ Jul 13th 2009 8:53PM
I think that's my Aunt. Aunt Flo.
Freddy.cloud @ Jul 13th 2009 8:02PM
It's not to late to pull that, is it? Please say it isn't too late, because that was just ... odd ...
Oh, and axe that marketing company. That's two obscure Pre adds ... let's not make it a trifecta ...

I thought Rubinstein "learned" about great marketing from Apple? Umm. K.
stiltskin @ Jul 13th 2009 10:41PM
I've been wanting to upgrade my mogul that commercial isn't helping at all since the Tour has also come out. That is one of the worst commercials ever and that ladys voice and just woke up/showered skin white as snow isn't working out.
IT 'S TERRIBLE didn't think it could get any worse than the first.
stiltskin @ Jul 13th 2009 10:43PM
When I heard bing bing bing I forgot to mention I figured it was going to say something for microsoft.
noisuf0 @ Jul 13th 2009 11:01PM
agreed with all of the above. the sprint pre-related commercials, and almost every sprint commercial in general, are the best. they do a pretty good job, they have such a good modern and high-tech attractive look going for them right now.

MediaCurves.com just conducted a study with 305 viewers of a new controversial ad by Sprint promoting their new Palm Pre phone. The majority of viewers reported that “inspiration” and “happiness” were the emotions they felt most while watching the commercial. The study also revealed that the majority of viewers (67%) reported that the ad was either somewhat effective or extremely effective, while 16% of viewers indicated that the ad was confusing.
