We've got a number of tips this morning about lucky
iPhone 3G S pre-orderers getting shipment notifications from Apple. Naturally, with a high profile launch like this we're guessing Apple has done all it can to ensure shipments
won't slip through earlier than the June 19th launch date, but hopefully at least few folks will get lucky -- and at least they've got one of the only guarantees of a launch day phone going. In other news, an anonymous Apple Store employee has done some homework and tallied up average reservation numbers at other US stores -- he estimates about 800 people on average are on the reservation list per Apple Store (ranging from a couple hundred to well over a thousand), which amounts to about 200,000 reservations as of now, a number he believes could double before launch. There's no way to back that number up, but it sounds fairly rational. Finally, the iPhone 3G S firmware download link has made its way into the wild. Sure, it doesn't do you any good if you don't have an iPhone 3G S, but we thought you just might want to know all the same.
[Thanks to everyone who sent these in]

Haven't gotten the email yet...WHERE IS IT??
klmsu19 @ Jun 15th 2009 12:42PM
yeh I wonder why no one else has gotten this yet, but his apparently was origin scanned at noon today. As far as i know UPS does those at night time and picks up from the warehouse in the late afternoon. Something seems off, besides the fact people last year said they all went out overnight, so why would it be shipped out Monday for Friday delivery? Makes no sense, and something isnt adding up here
I know I ordered in the early evening the night of WWDC, so definitely in the first batch to go out.
klmsu19 @ Jun 15th 2009 12:45PM
also why would the origin scan be in China? Iphones dont shop from China direct to customers, so this is making zero sense.

I've ordered 2 iPods direct from them before and they've both come from China, so I am not shocked by this.

for some reason, apple placed a hold on my card when i made the initial order, which was June 10th. But i checked my account online this morning and the money was back in there. Does apple charge u after they ship or is it charged initially. Please can someone tell me?
Garrett @ Jun 16th 2009 6:47PM
Yes, the same thing happened to me... Put a hold on the card, released it, then will charge you again when it ships. I called Apple earlier today to confirm that they didnt give me a refund without notification!

HA!! According to AT&T mine has shipped (no long displaying "in progress", but it says "shipped!") and I have a tracking number! I'll be at the AT&T store waiting at 7am!

I order 2 iphone 3Gs on the 9th. One says prepared for shipment and the other says shipped with a tracking number, origin scan in China. WEIRD!
Ron @ Jun 16th 2009 2:15AM
mine says delivers by the 22nd =/ i was hoping for it to come the 19th. maybe there's still hope?
Adam @ Jun 16th 2009 9:12AM
I got my notification today. The email says 'delivers by 22nd' but the UPS tracking link says it'll be here tomorrow (17th)
