Sprint and Palm admit that they don't expect wild lines for Pre
It's hard to say what changed between May 20th and today (any ideas, Verizon / AT&T?), but it seems that Sprint's tone on the impending Pre launch has shifted just a bit. In a new report over at Bits, we're told that both Sprint and Palm are informing the public to not expect lengthy lines on launch day. Naturally, both firms are spinning this like it's a good thing, with Palm's Lynn Fox proclaiming that "[Palm's] not like Apple." Mark Elliott, a spokesman for Sprint, even went so far as to say that it was actually attempting to "manage the exact opposite" of long lines, noting that Sprint wanted "each customer to get the experience" rather than being rushed in and out. Honestly, the spin factor was most obvious when he outed this line: "[Success] is not about having a line out the door; it's about being able to treat each customer and make sure they're happy with their decision." Alrighty then.

the iphone is like lebron jones. a lot of hype.
when the better player is dwyane wade.
doubt me? he had better numbers this year with a worse team and he already has a ring

Who is this "lebron jones" you speak of? Is he anything like Lebron James?
Patrick Horne @ Jun 4th 2009 3:44PM
Dennis Rodman has several rings + when a team is weak, a stars numbers are usually higher b/c it requires him to carry it. DW would gladly trade his numbers for a deeper run in the playoffs. The kind of run that LJ has been carrying his team to lately.
Actually I don't care.

LeBron Jones was that guy who was in those "7 up yours" commercials, wasn't he?
Dennis Rodman played with hall of famers on all his teams that won rings.
Sprint is the guy who will never figure how to win a championship...they team up with the Oliver Miller's of the world (RadioShack), and are going to act surprised when they have negative net adds this year...
The Pre is like LeBron James, it's going to hang out on the "Cleveland" of all services (Sprint). Then when free agency comes around, it will head to the bigger market, like New York (AT&T and Verizon) and make more money than ever...

They were expecting lines? I doubt there will be a line for this piece.
snworf @ Jun 4th 2009 1:19PM
Maybe if it took microSD cards, they'd have lines ;) Not being able to add more storage is a repellent for this device :(
Patrick Horne @ Jun 4th 2009 3:44PM
Yeah. Look what disaster befell Apple for making that mistake. Idiots!

Shit i hope there are no lines so i can get one. I have called the sprint stores by my house and they been saying a lot of people have called and ask to see how many pre"s are gonna arrive but they don't have any idea. They also said many people have said they will camp out for the phone so i hope there is no lines so i can get mines come saturday.
Amy @ Jun 5th 2009 10:49AM
I know of at least two ppl camping outside my store and only because I know who they are. Otherwise, I'm sure there's going to be more than what sprint/palm realize. They effed up on shortcoming of this stock. WTG!
Amy @ Jun 5th 2009 10:49AM
considering that we only have 3 in stock at my best buy mobile, and all day yesterday people were seriously hounding us on tips of how to get one, i think they should be ok. OOH EXCEPT FOR THE PART WHERE WE ONLY HAVE 3. That's why there wont be any massive lines...
Griffon @ Jun 5th 2009 11:41PM
They lost me when they decided tethering was not a option that simple everything should include (huh?).
