Palm Pre filtering into Sprint stores, indocile employee sizes it up
With only days to go before at least four or five Sprint stores begin selling Palm's Pre, we're already seeing at least one employee with some time on his hands give the smartphone a go. Moral of the story? Right about now would be an awesome time to know somebody who can get behind a Sprint counter without using an unlawful amount of force.

Not a RS. Definately a Sprint Store. Have you ever been in a RS?

Here's something I found interesting.
So with the info that stores are getting their stock now. My wife called into Sprint Premier Upgrade to see if she could reserve a Pre for launch day. They told her no that they wouldn't get their stock till the 7th. That they get it one day after launch. But what I found interesting is that they offered her the HTC Touch Pro for the price of the Pre. So instead of it being $399 - $100 mail in rebate they were going to sell it to her for $299 - $100 mir if she bought it today. I firgured she mean Treo Pro and I said to her no the Treo Pro is always available at that price. She said no she said Touch Pro with the slide out keyboard.
So if anyone out there was waiting for the Touch Pros price to drop use that method. Also it shows that Sprint Telesales isn't trying to route people to the Instinct S30 as the alternative to Pres when they sell out. They are pointing them at the Touch Pro. But I guess we already saw that internal document saying refer IT Professionals to the Treo Pro... Happy hunting.

awesome. won't be long before i venture into my local Sprint store to give the demo unit a whirl and ask about all i need to do to switch from Verizon to Sprint. should give me an idea of how much money i will need to save up since most of my money now is tied up in a summer class (which are friggin expensive!). glad it's almost here finally.

Luckily, I believe Verizon has the best of the ETF policies. Are you from the North East by chance? Maybe even New England?
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread - XBL: SoCoolCurt) @ May 31st 2009 5:37PM
Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland. does that somehow factor into how much my ETF would be? cause i would obviously be ecstatic if i didn't have to pay money out the wazoo to get out of my VZW contract.

My Sprint store is getting 20 and allowing people to pay $50 to reserve one of them. I know our Best Buy store is getting 5 in and the Radio Shack stores are getting none in for a while. So 25 phones for a town of 50,000 people. What's that work out to?
Dennis @ May 30th 2009 10:06PM
Wow you better have itty bitty thumbs his cover the whole keyboard. Its a pass for me.
periks19 @ May 31st 2009 12:21AM
How come the sprint stores i go to they are not allowing people to reserve them and your store is? is there any reason in particular why your store is doing that?
Antonio @ May 31st 2009 2:37PM
Ummm... Because they are doing something they shouldn't be doing. No Sprint stores are to reserve Pre's for anyone. It is to be sold on a first come first serve basis... He must work for a non Ready-now indirect dealer who doesnt care about breaking Sprint policies.
CannedNoodlez @ Jun 2nd 2009 3:26AM
I work for a different carrier, but it sadly seems all indirect agents act the same. I can't tell you how many times I've dealt with the low quality crud they sell to customers that can't tell the difference between corporate stores and indirect.

Damn, I to have this phone. However, I also want a Zune HD.
I can't afford to buy both in the next few months... and my HTC Touch is still putt-putt-putt'in around just fine.
This is going to be a tough decision.
big_psirex @ Jun 1st 2009 10:59AM
I had a store call me and asked if I wanted to reserve one and requested $50 to do so - being the wary person that I am I checked with Sprint and they said "Do not trust them - because they are not supposed to be doing that" the asked for the store/agent that requested the deposit and I happily gave them the info...

Why don't people know about MACRO focus when they're taking close up pictures of phones???
toronado455 @ Jun 1st 2009 2:04AM
They are probably taking these close up pictures using cell phone cams which have really crappy lenses that don't support macro.
